I think may already be in trouble even without China reopening as I had heard of 4 cases of bacterial lung infections in recent months.
The latest 2 cases (a relative's neighbour and a ex-dental nurse in her neighbourhood clinic) seem to be drug resistant as common antibiotics didn't work.

Guess should be due to the high population density that degrades air quality, plus past Covid infections that could have damaged lung tissues and possibly vaccinations - the German immunology professor Dr Bhakdi had warned of Covid vaccines bringing up latent bacteria/viruses in the body.

We ceased COVID check non-VTL travelers on  7 Jan 2022.

China stop quarantine for travelers on 8 Jan 2023.
Just follow since proven fatality rate very low.

I would think so too.

The Chinese clearly aren't taking unnecessary risk with the opening up - They have at least over a year of monitoring the effects of Omicron and its variants. Given their relatively success in containing the infection spread since Wuhan lockdown, it would be foolhardy to throw caution to wind to assume the health crisis is over.

I would be too since WHO has avoid declaring the Pandemic is over.
