Sinkies thinking of retiring in Malaysia must not be too flashy when it comes to their home and car. Keep a low profile, dress simply and be vigilant when out in public places.

My family keeps a low profile while holidaying in JB, Melaka, KL, Ipoh and Penang by dressing simply. We mostly go out in the day and eat dinner near our hotel. We tip the security supervisor at our hotel to keep an extra eye out for our car when parked there. We do likewise with staff when out for a massage and at eateries facing the street where we park. As far as possible, we park near the lift lobby or escalators at malls. We don't leave our car in back lanes even when the parking is free.

Isn't it  weird and stressful experience just to keep a low profile on a simple short trip across the Causeway ?

I don't have to endure this sort of defensive behavior while holidaying in Shanghai, Taipei, Tokyo, Bangkok or even Hanoi...
