Completed this Chinese drama a week+ ago. It will most probably be the best tv series I watched for this year if nothing I watched in December is better.
Gets exciting at about the late teens episodes. I thought the climax is at around middle 20s eps but the real climax is early 30s to late 30s eps. Altogether 51 episodes.
I was worried it was too political due to the era it is based in but it turns out to be not so. About a naive rookie cop and how he stays true to his conscience despite the circumstances forcing him to do otherwise.

Usually I watched Korean, Jap and US TV series. But recently, thanks to my neighbour, I discovered that TVB has uploaded a lot of its old TV series on YouTube. I started to check what had been uploaded to decide on what to watch.
At first, I was considering watching this:
Yes, it is really old and is from 1984 but I never complete it when I was a kid (only watched a handful of episodes). But I discovered that only seasons 1 and 2 were available. They never uploaded the last season on YouTube.
So in the end, I decided on watching this:
Note that the above series is from 2006 and NOT 1996 as stated on the screen.
Also note that the above is the version that is dubbed in Mandarin with English subtitles. I am watching the one that is in Cantonese with Chinese subtitles which is NOT available anymore (besides episodes 1 and 15). Fortunately, I watched it first before that version disappeared from YouTube.
All four seasons of the show are available on YouTube. Cantonese versions for Seasons 3 and 4 are still available. My neighbour loves season 4 saying that the science is incredible. But when you checked the viewers' ratings on Douban, season 1 is the best. I guess everyone's tastes are different.
After getting used to the slower pace of Korean dramas, it took me a while to get used to the faster pace of HK TV series but this series is watchable.
