Taking plane is a risk.

Unless necessary, no need to risk....

The last one happened in 29 May 2013,  the price dropped 5 cts or 0.5%.  That was when the price was in a bear market.    Air turbulence incidence is so common nowadays. About 65,000 aircraft suffer moderate turbulence every year in the US, and about 5,500 run into severe turbulence. The difference is this accident has a fatality.  If it is not due to the fault of SIA,  the insurance company should take care of the bills.

One of the hospitals where the injured are being treated in Bangkok is Samitivej Hospital, a private hospital. CNA's May Wong is there. Still no mention of nationalities or the extent of injuries.

The person who died was a 73-year-old British man. In a press conference, Kittipong Kittikachorn, the general manager of Suvarnabhumi Airport, also said seven people were critically injured.

If you're just joining us, a Thai airport official has confirmed that a 73-year-old British man has died on a Singapore Airlines flight from London that was hit by severe turbulence.

Thirty people were injured, including seven critically.

The Singapore-bound SQ321 was carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew members. It was diverted to Bangkok and made an emergency landing at 3.45pm local time.

Passengers said the aircraft suddenly dropped, with images on social media showing the chaotic aftermath. Items were scattered on the ground and parts of the Boeing plane's interior appeared damaged.

CNA's Saksith Saiyasombut and May Wong report from Bangkok.

The passenger likely died because of a heart attack, said Mr Kittikachorn, the airport GM. The seven people who were critically injured sustained head injuries, he added. One crew member was also hospitalised.

Boeing says it is in contact with Singapore Airlines and stands ready to offer support.

Flight SQ321 was a Boeing 777-300ER that was travelling from London to Singapore when it had to make an emergency landing in Bangkok.

"We extend our deepest condolences to the family who lost a loved one, and our thoughts are with the passengers and crew," Boeing said in a statement.

SIA standards have dropped just like dis flight. Cutting corners to max profit, wonder if the captain is CECA or local? AMDK pilots usually beri seasoned and quick thinking wan. Could have averted disaster or minimised the impact.

In events such as dis with large number of casualties dunno if Sinpwn got enough ambulances to transport the injured to hospitals or not.
Sinpwn good at talking the talk but suck at walking the walk.
