Andrei Lankov: The US is distracted - by China, the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine and by national problems. You could describe it like this: China is a cancer disease – dangerous and deadly in the long term. Russia and Ukraine are toothaches - very painful, but not life-threatening. The US doesn't have time to think about North Korea. But even if they did, they couldn't do much about the current situation.

China act in a way because USA made serious breach of agreement. Taiwan belongs to China and is recognized by UN. One China policy must be respected.

China act in a way because USA made serious breach of agreement. Taiwan belongs to China and is recognized by UN. One China policy must be respected.

China has been behaving "assertively" in the region.
Relationship has gone downhill and countries are blaming each other. China cannot say it has not choice in the way it chooses to conduct itself
