I rather PM focus on utilizing the govt reserves to build a Singapore 3.0 than mere looking at potential recession or the lost of 8bil...

Govt reserves are not there just to shore up but also to reinvent the nation so that we can continue to do well after each downturn. Thinking of collecting more gst is a stopgap measure at best. There comes a time when we will be left with no one else to tax. We need to reinvent, invest for the new world and not just same old same old with heavier tax collection...
