PM Lee urges activists to show up Opposition on stirring up resentment

Of biggest concern is politicians and parties who stir up resentment to gain political advantage, he added.

“They tear relentlessly at fault lines — residents versus foreigners, citizens versus PRs (permanent residents), even old citizens versus new — (and) sometimes they veer into racist territory question after question, speech after speech.

“They are not trying to obtain information or solve any problem. In fact, they are not interested in solutions. They are deliberately working up passions and exacerbating tensions, in order to create disaffection, divide society and thereby win votes.”

While Mr Lee did not name any opposition politician or party in his speech, government ministers had, during a parliamentary debate on Singapore’s foreign talent policy on Sept 14, 2021, labelled the Progress Singapore Party (PSP) racist and xenophobic.

The debate also saw Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam accusing the PSP’s Non-Constituency Member of Parliament Leong Mun Wai of engaging in “race-baiting” and “nationality-baiting” by linking Singapore’s free trade agreement with India to the issue of Singaporeans’ job security.

LHL assumes that opposition are stirring resentment?

Or the topic itself that PAP refused to tackle has caused resentment?

If the Foreigners VS Citizens are fault lines, then who caused it and allow it to drag?

Why blame Opposition when you cannot fix your own problem?

Why do we need 5 Mayors and 80 PAP Ministers?

Let's be realistic politics game is ugly and to win votes. Look at other countries it is the same everywhere. If from that perspective one can better understand why such statements and word like fixing appear. The struggle to retain, obtain power is very real and everywhere not just for Spore.

That is why got Buddhism let go everything go forth and attain Nirvana but how many ppl can achieve that noble aim in reality?

I've never trusted politicians, that's why I believe they should never be given so much power that they can do whatever they want. A check and balance is important.

If want to attain Nirvana then don't be a politician.

Always missing in action when time to perform or speak out.

But when got crowd or credit to gain, they are the first one to join in the wagon and make a lot of noise.

Post everywhere to tell how bad our government is.

Hope PSP can garner some seats in the GE.  They speaks more for the voices of Singaporeans whereas WP rarely do.

PSP is another useless opposition that can only stir sai like you but always MIA when need them to serve Singaporean.

Singaporean has voted and the choice is clear they prefer PAP than PSP.

He has 5 times more Ministers and the Highest paid PM in the world now finally, showing his true self in this battle which he ochestrated. I am disappointed that he actually urge activistists to fight this battle for him. Time for more people to run away from him.

No wonder PAP keep losing support.

It is oppie job to find faults in yr policy, not to understand and fix them. Only when they become govt, then it is their job to fix.

At work you might Identity the fault of your colleague's work, but will you fix it for him or her? Of coz no..

1. I have served the nation in a combat unit for 2.5 + 10 years. I had fulfilled my duty as a citizen, but has the country do it's part for me?
2. I don't know where the threat of CCP is, but I know the threat of CECA is already at my doorsteps
3. I had been called a CCP, JHK, Pinoy, but they never called me a CECA..

This Govt is getting more hilarious like a Room full of Clowns and sure reminds me of “Who will die for PaP” thread. Please leave me out even if I am part- time activist.
