A lot of journalists are not very precise in their reporting especially when it comes to financial related topics. I'm pretty sure the $300 - $400 refers to revenue and not profit, otherwise that would translate to easily $8-10k a month and we wouldn't have a problem of having left with the last kacang puteh man in the first place.

profit is huge so if sell 300 a day can't pay rent meh ?

I used to buy a lot from that stall. Very sad it's no more.
The nuts taste better than those sold in Department stalls.
