Ukraine attack Russian weapons depot storing North Korean shells, missiles set ablaze after drone attack, Kyiv says North Korean ammunition in Bryansk Oblast, Ukraine’s General Staff reported on Oct. 9."According to available info, missiles and artillery weapons, including those that came from North Korea, as well as guided aerial bombs, were stored on the territory of the warehouse," it said in a Telegram post.

Ukraine president says Russia to deploy 10,000 North Korean troops. 

BRUSSELS: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Thursday (Oct 18) he had intelligence reports that North Korea was training 10,000 soldiers to support Russia in its fight against Kyiv." They are preparing on their land, 10,000 soldiers, but they didn't move them already to Ukraine or to Russia," Zelenskyy said after meeting NATO defence ministers.

He made the claim about the 10,000 North Korean soldiers earlier Thursday after meeting EU leaders in Brussels - without initially making clear where they were being trained. Speaking alongside NATO chief Mark Rutte, Zelenskyy said there were already an unspecified number of "tactical personnel" and "officers" from North Korea in "occupied" Ukrainian territory held by Russia.

Rutte told their press conference that the alliance had "no evidence that North Korean soldiers are involved in the fight, but we do know that North Korea is supporting Russia". "We are tracking the possible deployment of North Korean troops to Russia," one official told reporters.

"North Korea has for quite some time now provided significant artillery munitions to Russia to support the war. And this is a new body of reporting that we're tracking." The official said the reports concerned between 2,000 and 12,000 North Koreans but that - if verified - "it's probably towards the lower number".

Zelensky has brought up Budapest Memorandum in his Thursday speech, a 1990s security agreement saw Kyiv relinquishing nuclear arsenal following dissolution of USSR in return security guarantees from US, UK, and Russia that were never released upon Moscow’s invasion.


Up until Dec. 5, 1994, Ukraine was officially the third-largest nuclear power in the world. However, its tobe noted: Ukraine physically possessed weapons, the expertise to develop maintain them – although lack resources would’ve likely prevented it from doing so – Moscow retained control over these weapons.
