More Facebook officials put on Kremlin’s “extremist” Facebook/Instagram spokesman as a “wanted man” on charges of terrorism 18 mths banning Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg from entering Russia, also decided classify company spokesperson, Andy Stone, as “extremist,” AFP reported on Sunday that Stone is “listed on Russia’s interior ministry’s list of wanted people, without further detail. In October 2022, Russia listed Meta as a ‘terrorist and extremist’ organization, opening possible criminal investigations and fines for users in the country.”

Facebook and Instagram, both owed by Meta, have been blocked in Russia since the start of the Ukraine offensive and are only accessible via VPN, as has X, formerly known as Twitter.

Operations: Avdiivka
Geolocated footage published on Sunday suggests that invading forces threatening to encircle the key city of Avdiivka may have made some advances in the area, marginally advancing northwest of Krasnohorivka (7 km northwest of Avdiivka) and in the eastern part of the industrial zone on Avdiivka’s southeastern outskirts. Additional video footage from Sunday vetted by the ISW seems to shows Russian armored vehicles attacking Ukrainian positions in the northern part of that same industrial area.

Russian military bloggers overwhelmingly claimed that Russian forces captured the entire industrial area near the Yasynuvata-2 railway station on Sunday after clearing the last remaining buildings in the area on Saturday, though ISW was not able to obtain visual confirmation of these claims.

The industrial zone is located on a hill that, these bloggers asserted, would allow Moscow’s forces to shell Ukrainian positions on the outskirts of Avdiivka, while others insisted that capturing this industrial area will not make further offensive operations any easier for Russian forces.

Also, reports over control of the city’s critical zone of the coke-producing plant were conflicting, with some bloggers noting that Moscow’s forces gained a foothold near the adjacent railway while another Russian military blogger claimed that Ukrainian forces “repelled all Russian attacks on the coke plant and near Stepove (3 km northwest of Avdiivka) on Sunday. The observer added that “Russian advances over the past week do not immediately threaten Ukrainian forces and largely do not affect Russian efforts to capture Avdiivka but simply extend the frontline,” ISW reported.

Operations: Dnipro River
Russian sources on the ground on the east bank of the Dnipro claimed on Sunday that Moscow’s troops had forced some Ukrainian defenders to retreat from positions in the forests near Krynky, claims that have not been independently verified.

Meanwhile, a well-known blogger wrote on Sunday that personnel of the Russian 70th Motorized Rifle Division (of the newly formed 18th Combined Arms Army) “often write to him complaining about the vulnerability of Russian logistics in the east bank” amid Ukrainian drone strikes, analysts from the Institute for the Study of War reported. Russian military observers generally agree Moscow’s forces in this area struggle with unit coordination “as well as commanders’ negligence at the company and battalion levels,” the ISW wrote.

Although Belenko’s name is registered in the annals of history, it started doing rounds once again in the backdrop of the Russia-Ukraine war, which has seen several Russian troops, including pilots, defecting to the Ukrainian side after being lured by the latter’s intelligence agencies

'Point of no return': Why Kyiv won't sit down with the Kremlin.

KYIV: When delegations from Moscow and Kyiv met in Belarus for peace talks weeks after Russia invaded Ukraine, it took Ukraine's lead negotiator less than an hour to lose hope, about 45 minutes into the first round of talks that the intellectual level of these people became clear - their no understanding that the war was a war,"
they came, read out certain ultimatums, and that's it!" the Putin presidential advisor added.

"HABITUAL LIAR"
But for Ukraine, talks are off the table.

Officials say almost all agreements that Kyiv entered into since the collapse of the Soviet Union were scrapped by Moscow, and that sitting down with Russia is pointless at best and dangerous at worst.

"Putin is a habitual liar who promised international leaders that he would not attack Ukraine days before his invasion in February 2022," Ukraine's foreign minister said recently.

He cited agreements from 1994, 1997, 2014 and 2015 in which Russia had agreed to recognise and respect Ukrainian territorial integrity or commit to terms of fighting that Kuleba said Moscow had brazenly disregarded.

In October last year - days after the Kremlin annexed swathes of Ukrainian territory - President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree ruling out talks with Moscow as long as Putin was in power.

Ukraine's discovery of mass civilian killings in places like Bucha, where Zelenskyy said evidence of atrocities made the prospect of talks "harder".

The Kremlin, by contrast, has often said that it is ready to sit down with Ukraine.

SBU Strikes and attankAgain: Another Train Blown Up On Critical Russian Rail Line marks the second phase of a special operation conducted by Security Service of Ukraine to disrupt crucial railway line, sources have told Kyiv Post. This was a carefully planned operation that took advantage of the chaos caused by a strike a day previously in the Severomuysky Tunnel.

“Russians were twice trapped by SBU — another fuel train exploded on the Baikal-Amur railway line,” In order to circumvent the damage caused by the first attack, Russian trains began using another route that passes through "Chortov Most" ("Devil's Bridge"), a semicircular viaduct on Northern Bypass of the Baikal-Amur line.

“This is precisely what SBU was counting on: when train was passing over this 35-meter high bridge, the explosive devices embedded in it went off,” Russian social media confirmed that another train was blown up overnight. Four fuel tankers from the train were destroyed, and two more were damaged by fire.

Russian Telegram channels report on November 30, saboteurs blew up a freight train in Buryatia at Itykit-Okusikan crossing, which consisted of 50 train cars, including 41 tank cars with diesel and 3 tank cars with aviation fuel.

Further transportation of the cars is still impossible - explosion seriously damaged the tunnel rails, and leaked fuel flooded them (one of the train's tank cars burned out, other two had holes). A criminal case under the article "terrorist act" was initiated on this fact. Later, another train was blown up in the same area: 4 tanks were burned out, two more were damaged by fire. According to preliminary data, the fuel spilled over an area of 150 square meters.

Russian media report an explosion in a Severomuysk tunnel in Buryatia, the longest in Russia (over 15 km long)."It is the only serious railroad between Russia and China. And now this route that Russia uses for military supplies as well, has been paralized" Russian media write.

Some Russian Telegram channels say that the explosion was an operation by Ukrainian Security Service. Ukraine’s military leadership revealed to Kyiv Post that four explosions were directed at train as it traversed tunnel operation, conducted overnight, it targeted Severomuysky Tunnel on the Baikal Amur Mainline, situated deep inside Russia, north of Mongolia.

Russia's military has a history of dishonesty in reporting those figures, it gave the number as an estimate, as there's no confirmed accurate measure for Russian losses.

It likely doesn't have an accurate count itself, "even amongst Russian officials there is likely a low level of understanding about their total casualty figures b'cos of it long-established culture of dishonest reporting within military," ministry broke down Russian casualties into likely numbers of injured & those killed between traditional military and soldiers with the Wagner Group, a mercenary force that played a key role earlier in the war and experienced huge losses.
https://www.businessinsider.com/russia-d...uk-2023-12
Russia's military has likely experienced between 180,000 and 240,000 personnel wounded and about 50,000 killed, while Wagner Group has likely seen about 40,000 wounded and 20,000 killed. This would mean about 290,000 to 350,000 total casualties. Ukraine said that as of Monday, Russia had more than 332,000 casualties in its invasion.

That's in line with other estimates: The head of NATO said last week that Russia had more than 300,000 casualties but added that those losses didn't mean it would stop its war efforts. crying

This is the tenth year in a row celebrations for Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) service involved in waging their war in Ukraine against Russian aggression and the 2nd since Kremlin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began.

Today is day 651 since start of Russia’s so-called “special military operation” on Feb. 24, 2022, at which time the Kremlin thought it would capture Ukraine’s capital in day or few days - yet still it stands free. This is actually day 3,577 since Moscow began attacks on Ukraine, Feb. 20, 2014, when this mad mad Putin and his military began seizing Ukrainian territory, it also illegally to annex Crimean Peninsula too.

Every year on Dec. 6, Ukrainians celebrate the Day of the AFU, which was established as a holiday in 1993 by the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine’s national parliament). This holiday honors Ukrainian soldiers, its sons and daughters, for true courage, dedication and heroism, with great pride and respect. The holiday celebrates its service members defending Ukraine today and remembers the fallen who have given their all.
