That I would agree - SG gov is very very scared of Washington.

We have seen how US tried to influence domestic policies and decisions or even invade countries that does not serve American interest.

Else why are All members of ASEAN have  1 common largest trade partner  ?

That is my point, most Asean members already having China as their major trading partners. 
Not necessarily to depend on BRICS for trade.😉

Especially for Singapore.
Better to let other bigger Asean members join first. And observe from afar what is the outcome.

In geopolitics, there is not such thing as "believe". I give you some recent e.g. so as not to disappoint you:

I have same opinion. Trade with China, ASEAN countries and those BRICK countries except Russia will go on as usual. Whereas joining BRICS we dunno what damage US will do to us.

In short, China nor Russia heck care SG decides to join BRICS or not.

What SG is justifiably should be wary of is USA's reaction if SG decides to.  

From here, we can see who is more of a threat to Singapore.
