There isn't enough stuff for Russia (or any other country for that matter) to purchase from India and its weak and negligible financial markets also precludes other countries from using Rupee for other trade settlements.

The Russians agreed to an Indian Rupee deal in the early stages of the war in pursuit for short term stability and risk control when they also don't know for sure the full extent and impact of western sanctions. Now that it appears the economic impact is far less than anticipated, naturally Russians are no longer keen to exchange their energy for what are essentially worthless pieces of paper.
