Singapore is a consistent and staunch supporter of international law and the principles enshrined in the United Nations (UN) Charter. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine contravenes the UN Charter and is a clear and gross violation of international law. For a small state like Singapore, this is not a theoretical principle, but a dangerous precedent. This is why Singapore has strongly condemned Russia’s unprovoked attack on Ukraine.

Real reason Singapore stands with Ukraine

Our SWF is 5th largest institutional shareholder in BlackRock.

BlackRock owns substantial shareholdings in all US defense contractors like aircraft, weapons and equipment manufacturers. BlackRock also owns substantial shares in US infrastructure builders and contractors. BlackRock is also an asset manager that currently owns 35% of Ukraine national assets such as farm land, rare earths and mineral land, mining land, etc. and will stand to own even more after the war is over and the country goes into rebuilding mode. That shit is worth tens of trillions.

Ukraine is currently broke, the funds for rebuilding will come from divestment of €50 billion frozen Russian assets in the West, and as loans from investment banks around the world like JP Morgan etc, to be paid to the infrastructure contractors that will come from US and EU (which BlackRock already owns shares in).

It's a massive money laundering scheme, and the money goes right back into the pockets of.....?

But it's ok because Singapore stands to gain.

Another reason Singapore would prefer the Ukraine and Middle east conflicts to continue, is that with Ukraine and Middle East currently at war, the US cannot pivot to Asia fully. We don't want the US to fully pivot to Asia because that will mean several hot wars and/or proxy wars around Asia, and that is bad for business and trade, especially since China is our largest trading partner.
