Another strategic moves and counter moves by the superpowers and allied regional powers to out manoeuvre each other.
This move allows naval projection by adversarial nuclear submarines off Japanese shores which is a stone throw away.

Many see this as an act of goodwill. Some believe Russia could be turning into a vassal of China.
Lianhe Zaobao correspondent Wong Siew Fong through what the port opening means for China.
Under the name Haishenwai (海参崴), Vladivostok was once part of China during the Qing dynasty.
However, in November 1860, the territory east of the Ussuri River, including Vladivostok, was ceded to the Russian Empire under the Treaty of Peking. In the past 163 years, the neighbouring Chinese provinces of Heilongjiang and Jilin did not have access to the sea, and could only reach Dalian, Yingkou and other ports in Liaoning province through overland transportation....Why now!.

Russia new eastern economic zone, and Dr M was invited by Putin 4 years ago together with global investors to invest in the region.
Probably, it didn't take off successfully

Playing with NATO, it is not possible to play alone, is suicide. You have to work with regional players. Share intelligence and coordinate works and naval exercises etc.

Quite easy for Winnie the poo to take back outer Manchuria, now that Russia is tied down in Ukraine.

Russia has more than 6000 nuclear warheads!
How can it be vassal of another country?
Don't be fooled by western politicians' sour grapes!

I think it is quite unlikely for the Vladivostok port to support Chinese naval vessels as it would require Russia to allow China to setup a military support base there for naval ship repairs and replenishment.
A more viable scheme for a China naval base in the Sea of Japan will be via NK. Unlike Russia, NK is indebted to China for the latter's help during the Korean war.
China could lease the short 15km land strip along 图们江 on the NK side that separates Jilin 珲春 city from the Sea of Japan.

It will provide Jilin and Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province with more convenient access to the sea port, promote domestic trade and revitalize Northeast China's aging industrial base, analysts said.
In the past, goods from Heilongjiang and Jilin provinces needed to be transported to Dalian, Northeast China's Liaoning Province, and then transferred to Shanghai, South China's Guangzhou or other parts of the country, adding to shipping times and costs, Liang Haiming, dean of Hainan University's Belt and Road Research Institute, told the Global Times on Monday. If transferring through Vladivostok in the future, the land transportation distance can be shortened by more than 800 kilometers, and the cost will be greatly reduced.

My own thinking is with the Ukraine war no end in sight and all the nato seem to be ganging up against Russia, Russia need to prepare for a potential showdown with nato and for that moment the more allies they have on their side the better. China also buay song US so pulling in China as allies is a good strategy. It can start off with opening of this port.

Relax lah - The Chinese are only interested in gaining wider and better trade routes and sea access in NE Asia.
With China permitting an ex-Chinese city port as an "domestic" transit hub within a thin Russian territory ships can by-pass the narrow straits between SK and Japan. This is like the Chinese avoiding the narrow Straits of Malacca in SEA by using alternative route and safer routes.
So yes, you are correct - This is a very big historic strategic-level change that will increase China's economic influence that will encampus large Manchuria region, Far East Russian along the Pacific Ocean and N Korea.

Actually the Ukraine war has highlighted the importance of some weapons like the kamikaze and spy drones. I saw a few new video of China PLA showing their version of drones and hand operated anti-tank rocket launchers. In terms of weapon types I don't think China lose out to NATO. If they join hands with Russia wow but only downside is language barrier between Russian and Chinese soldiers. But I saw a few video where Russian military can speak Mandarin!!!!

There is absolutely no need to take back land. You need resources to take care land. The best way and low cost is still through trades and open access and cooperation.

Ukraine war is just like any other conflicts - No matter which side is winning and weapons they used, everyone is economically and financially worst off..Not counting the Lives lost. That is why the Chinese understand there is nothing to gain by fueling the War like NATO are doing now ...in their own European region.
Good news is East and SE Asia has enjoy ZERO major conflict since Vietnam War ended in 1975.
