The government is lifting the limit on gatherings to eight people next week although coronavirus cases keep soaring. As of Friday morning, the daily tally of new infections stood at 407,017 with 301 deaths and 1,049 severe cases.

The government decided to raise the cap on gatherings from the current six people. It also considered letting bars and restaurants to open until midnight but changed its mind to maintain the current 11 p.m. curfew.
