Dubbed Operation Narnia.
Israel’s opening attack against Iran last week with "OPs Rising LION" on 13/6 last saw simultaneous killing 9 of the Islamic Republic’s top ten nuclear scientists, Channel 12 reports. Nuclear scientists were killed using a special weapon,
details were barred from publication, Channel 12 says. The 10th nuclear scientist was killed shortly after the other nine (9), as part of overnight Thursday-Friday Israeli ops, which included strikes on Iran’s ballistic missile program & the Natanz nuclear site, along with the elimination of top members of Islamic Republic’s military leadership, the network says.
The scientists apparently believed they were safe from such targeting in their homes, a senior Israeli official tells Channel 12, noting previously assassinated nuclear scientists were killed while heading to their cars after work. Israel had been tracking Iranian nuclear scientists for years and the ten killed last week were marked for assassination in November of last year, Channel 12 says.
Israeli intelligence officials felt that the killing of the nuclear scientists was the most important part of Operation Narnia be'cos military leadership & equipment killed would be more easily replaceable, while the knowledge held by the nuclear scientists would take much longer to ascertain, the network said, citing an unnamed senior Israeli official.

North Korea sending more troops to Russia for Ukraine war.
SEOUL: North Korea will send more troops to Russia to assist in its war against Ukraine, possibly as early as July, a South Korean lawmaker said on Thursday (Jun 26), citing information from Seoul's spy agency confirmation comes just a week after Sergei Shoigu, head of Russia's Security Council, said North Korea would send military builders and sappers to help restore Russia's Kursk region during his visit to Pyongyang. "North Korea is continuing to send troops & supply weapons to Russia, & we see its support has played a significant role in Moscow's efforts to retake Kursk," lawmaker Lee Seong-kweun told reporters after a briefing from the spy agency. "After dispatching 11,000 personnel in October last year, Russia has already announced a second deployment of 4,000 troops, and a further 6,000 construction troops to assist in rebuilding Kursk," said Lee.
Seoul National Intelligence Service's assessments, the additional deployment "could take place as early as July or August". Evidence for this is that, during previous deployments, Shoigu visited Pyongyang roughly a month in advance, said Lee, along with "recent reports that North Korea has begun selecting personnel for dispatch, as indicators that preparations are already underway".
North Korea has become one of Russia's main allies during its more than three-year-long Ukraine offensive, sending thousands of troops and container loads of weapons to help Kremlin oust Ukrainian forces from Kursk. North Korea is believed to have provided Russia with an estimated several million artillery shells, along with missiles and long-range rocket systems, delivered by ship and military aircraft," added Lee.
Russia and North Korea signed a military deal last year, including a mutual defence clause, during a rare visit by Russian leader Vladimir Putin to the nuclear-armed North. Around 600 North Korean soldiers have been killed and thousands more wounded fighting for Russia, according to Lee, citing the South Korean intelligence service.
Pyongyang in April confirmed for the first time that it had deployed troops to support Russia's war in Ukraine – and admitted that its troops had been killed in combat. North Korean state media said leader Kim Jong Un had confirmed plans for further cooperation but did not provide detail.

MOSCOW - The Kremlin said on Friday that Estonia's stated readiness to host NATO allies' U.S.-made F-35A stealth jets, capable of carrying nuclear weapons, posed a direct threat to Moscow. Estonian Defence Minister Hanno Pevkur told the Postimees news outlet on Thursday that Estonia - which borders Russia and is a rotating base for NATO jets tasked with protecting Baltic airspace - was ready to host nuclear-capable jets if necessary. "If some of them, regardless of their country of origin, have a dual-use capability to carry nuclear weapons it doesn't affect our position on hosting F-35s in any way," the outlet cited him as saying.

Ukraine's next goal in ongoing negotiations with Russia is to organize a direct meeting between President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said during a press briefing on June 26.
Speaking to journalists in Kyiv, Umerov, who was part of Ukrainian peace talks delegation, outlined a multi-stage negotiation process that began in January with an initiative from U.S. President Donald Trump. Umerov stressed that Ukraine welcomed the idea of a ceasefire from the outset and remains fully committed to a just peace.
"Ukraine has always remained consistent in its pursuit of peace," Umerov said. "We supported the U.S. initiative for a full ceasefire from the very beginning and demonstrated our commitment through multiple rounds of negotiations. But any dialogue must take place without ultimatums and with full respect for our country's sovereignty."
The talks unfolded in several rounds in Jeddah, Riyadh, Paris, London, and Istanbul. During the second round of negotiations in Riyadh, Ukraine communicated with Russia indirectly, through U.S. mediators. In Turkey, U.S. mediators were excluded from talks due to Russia's request, according to Umerov.

Russia continues to rely on restoring old Soviet-era armored vehicles to replenish its battlefield losses, according to new analysis by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) published on June 26. The assessment is based on satellite imagery reviewed by OSINT analysts tracking Russian military equipment stored at repair facilities and depots. ISW highlighted their findings to illustrate increasing strain on Russia’s defense-industrial base. Russia’s armored vehicle repair plants (BTRZ) suggest that many of the armored personnel carriers (APCs) pulled from long-term storage are no longer in a condition to be quickly deployed to the front—as was the case earlier in the full-scale invasion.
ISW estimates 81st Armored Repair Plant in Armavir, Krasnodar Krai, has been refurbishing upto 200 BTR-70, BTR-80, and BTR-82 vehicles annually since 2023, include both older models taken from storage combat-damaged APCs returned from battlefield. 144th plant in Yekaterinburg, Sverdlovsk Oblast reportedly Russia’s only facility still restoring older airborne fighting vehicles like the BMD-2 and BMP-2. It is estimated to refurbish between 100 and 150 such vehicles each year.
Soviet-era stockpiles near depletion as Russia ramps up armor repairs. June 27, 2025. Armored repair plant in Armavir is estimated to restore up to 200 BTR-70/80/82 vehicles annually. Armored repair plant in Armavir (pictured) is estimated to restore up to 200 BTR-70/80/82 vehicles annually.
Ukraine suggests output is substantial possibly growing.
Analysts estimate Kurganmashzavod plant in Kurgan Oblast produces between 100 and 120 BMD-4M vehicles annually, along with about 360 BMP-3s and 20–30 BTR-MDMs.
ISW noted throughout war, Russia has relied heavily on old stock of Soviet-era equipment to offset many battlefield losses, it reserve finite approaching a point of diminishing availability,” where input yields decreasing output or benefit.
Due2mounting losses of heavy vehicles in late 2023 - 2024, Russian increasingly resorted to using motorcycles, donkey & lightweight buses & buggies along front battle lines. March 2025, UK’s Int'l Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) estimated Russian troops lost over 3,700 infantry fighting vehicles & armored personnel carriers in 2024 alone.

Ukraine will receive over €100 mil from Germany to produce hundreds of An-196 UAVs with a range of over 2,000 km. The German govt will invest a “three-digit million euro sum” — over €100 million — into the production of Ukrainian An-196 Liutyi long-range strike UAVs, according to a report by Der Spiegel, funding will support manufacture of several hundred units, significantly boosting Ukraine’s ability to target strategic objectives far behind enemy lines. The An-196 Liutyi is a Ukrainian-designed kamikaze drone developed by Ukroboronprom — the largest arms manufacturer in Ukraine. It is capable of carrying a 75 kg warhead and has an operational range exceeding 2,000 km, it unveiled in 2022, UAV was first deployed in August 2023 when Ukrainian Special Operations Forces reportedly used it to strike a russian Black Sea Fleet base in the occupied Crimean town of Perevalne.

Germany’s investment is part of a broader effort by EU to integrate Ukraine into Europe’s defense industrial base. As Spiegel notes, Ukraine’s wartime experience has made it a valuable partner in development of new military technologies, particularly unmanned systems UAV that belongs to a new generation of Ukrainian long-range precision weapons. With a total weight of over 200 kg, the An-196 Liutyi is built to perform autonomous deep strikes, navigating through complex air defense systems using advanced guidance technology. “Ukraine is rapidly becoming a hub for drone innovation. Supporting its industry means strengthening not only Ukrainian resilience but also European security,” said an EU defense official cited by the magazine.

This funding is expected not only to increase the production volume of An-196 Liutyi drones but also to further develop Ukraine’s military-industrial complex. Analysts suggest that this may mark the beginning of deeper European cooperation with Ukraine in high-tech arms production — and potentially open the way for joint ventures & technology sharing in the future. As the war enters a prolonged phase, Ukraine’s ability to produce & deploy effective long-range systems like the An-196 Liutyi could become a decisive factor on battlefield, offering Kyiv greater strategic reach & deterrence against russian aggression.
