She speaks Ukrainian, her husband is serving in the Ukrainian army, and she lives in a village south of the central Ukrainian city of Vinnytsia. But Galina is legally Russian. As a child, she moved there, where she then became a citizen.
It means she - like thousands of other Russians in Ukraine - is now in a legal limbo.
"When you show your documents, people think you're something strange," she tells me in her kitchen, where she spends her time stitching T-shirts for wounded Ukrainian soldiers.

Germany, Norway, Britain and others are increasing weapons production to help Kyiv. But aid may be coming too late as winter looms as Ukraine’s counteroffensive against Russia stalls.
Faced with growing American reluctance to send more military aid to Ukraine, European leaders are moving to fill the gap, vowing new support for Kyiv as it battles Russia in a war in Europe’s backyard.
Several countries — including Germany, Britain and Norway — are increasing production of weapons, especially the artillery ammunition that Ukraine so badly needs. Germany, once a laggard in providing aid to Ukraine, announced a week ago that it planned to double its support to $8.5 billion in 2024 and would deliver more crucial air-defense systems by the end of this year. And European Union states are gearing up to train an additional 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers, bringing the total so far to 40,000.

Military river crossing operations are notoriously difficult to plan and execute. They are one most difficult forms of combined arms manoeuvre b'cos of challenges posed by river currents, the availability of bridging, and enemy action designed to interfere with crossing activities.
Oct 2023, Ukrainians executed river crossings on three different locations in Kherson & able to gain small foothold at each location. Since then, Ukrainian forces have been working linking up these three bridgeheads in Russian-occupied Kherson, while also advancing east to clear Russian artillery so that it cannot fire on the Ukrainian river crossing sites.
What does this mean for Ukrainian war effort, and the overall trajectory of the war? There are political, strategic and tactical implications.

According to Serhii Plokhy, the Mykhailo Hrushevsky professor of Ukrainian history at Harvard University, all three revolutions had clear goals that they ultimately achieved.
The revolution leading up to Ukraine's independence from the Soviet Union in 1991 was known as the Revolution on Granite, occuring from Oct. 2-17, 1990. Dissatisfied with the recent Ukrainian parliamentary elections, the Ukrainian Student Union gathered at Kyiv's Independence Square, initiating a hunger strike.

Military aid --- "It looks like this is not favorable news for Ukraine," Julia Soldatiuk-Westerveld, a research fellow at the Clingendael Institute's EU & Global Affairs Unit, told the Kyiv Independent. The election result contributes to "a growing worry in Ukraine that this is a tendency that could spread throughout the European Union," Soldatiuk-Westerveld said.
Wilders told the Dutch public broadcaster on Nov. 15 that while he "supports Ukraine politically" and recognizes that Russia is the aggressor, the Netherlands must be able to defend its own territory.
Since PVV is against continuing military or financial aid to Kyiv, Ukrainians are wondering "if this means an end of support" from the Netherlands. Dutch supplies are limited, and for that reason, military aid to Ukraine should end, Wilders said.

Ukraine’s long-range precision strikes are inflicting mass casualties among Vladimir Putin’s forces “well behind the frontline”,
UK’s Ministry of Defence has claimed. The dire lack of rotation among frontline troops is leaving Russia’s commanders with “an acute dilemma” of whether to keep soldiers safely dispersed or gather them in groups to boost morale, the ministry claimed – pointing to two recent strikes which likely caused dozens of casualties in Russian-held territory.

Russia is having to pull air defence systems out of Kaliningrad, its external province on Baltic Sea to replace ones it lost in Ukraine war, according to intelligence update from UK’s Ministry of Defence. “Follows uptick in losses of SA-21 air defence systems in Russian-occupied Ukraine in late October 2023.” The move shows Russia is so overstretched by Ukraine war, it is having to accept additional risk to strategically important Kaliningrad, which is bordered on three sides by Nato member states, according to MoD. The Russian military death toll in Ukraine has reached 324,830 according to estimates provided by the Ukrainian military.
Meanwhile Russian troops continue attempts to advance near
Avdiivka with Ukrainian forces repelling attacks to its north-east, west and south-west and Russian soldiers “seek to reoccupy” the town of Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region, according to the spokesman for Ukraine’s ground forces.
Now Ukraine’s arms industry minister has called for country to turn itself into a “arsenal for the free world” and provide weapons for export. Oleksandr Kamyshin aims to revive the state sector and coordinate private enterprises to boost export of weapons.
