Wasted thinking and dreaming for F-16 to come, he's biggest problem is that we really need to think and today he is dreaming for two more patriots for the Kharkiv region, b4 the Russia come again to attack the soldiers and people – they are under attacking, civilians too, (no warriors), - everybody – they are under Russian missiles,” he told reporters.

Russia is pushing ahead while is he dreaming for with its new advance into northeastern Ukraine.... Rotfl

Blinken’s visit was the first by a Biden administration official since the long-delayed passage of US supplemental funding to the war-torn country.

“I have a urgent msg to him, refering to the president of Ukraine and the man he want, it's a U.S. msg to Ukraine with a look at his ear for real message:

The Ukraine president is a lone man with a lousy Army chief,” he said during a speech at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.

Now!. Ukrainian officials are trying to convince Washington to allow Kyiv to strike into Russian federation territory with U.S.-supplied weapons, official U.S. is saying no, the ban is there prevented them from attacking Russian troops, as Putin's soldiers amassing near Kharkiv Oblast, Politico reported on May 14.

Moscow's troops is launching new offensive into northeastern Kharkiv Oblast through Russo-Ukrainian border on May 10, with 30,000 troops involved in the operation.

A group of Ukrainian parliamentarians is in Washington this week to mobilize support in the U.S. Congress, saying that the banning prevented them from hitting Russian military depots across border, Politico said.

Why?. Putin removes Sergei Shoigu from Russian defence ministry.

Mr Putin remains the only person who has the final say, his decision to start war on Ukraine & all the big calls are taken by him. Patrushev is one of three Putin loyalists who have served with him ever since the 1970s in St Petersburg, when Russia's second city was still known as Leningrad.

Not only did he work with him in the KGB during communist era, he replaced him as head of its successor organisation, the Federal Security Service (FSB), from 1999 to 2008. He then served as secretary of the Russian Security Council for 14 years.

This latest movement at the top of Russian politics also saw Mr Patrushev's son, Dmitry - seen by some as a possible successor to Mr Putin - promoted to deputy prime minister.

Belbek Airfield, Russian-occupied Crimea, Russian firefighters douse the charred wreck of a 92N6E “Grave Stone” missile control radar, hit by a Ukrainian ATACMS.
Even if some aircraft escaped damage, the raid was still a costly one for the Russians.
The Russian air force deployed four or five S-400 batteries in Crimea before the wider war kicked off in February 2022. Between recent ATACMS strike & previous ones, at least one of these batteries has gone up in flames, leaving gaps in Russian defenses in Crimea that make subsequent Ukrainian raids easier—at least until Russians can reorganize their air defense network.

A bet. Ukrainian planners hoping to confirm purported hit on MiG-31, where Russian navy’s Su-27s are strictly medium-range air-to-air fighters, bigger MiGs have long-range air-to-air role, firing powerful R-37 radar-guided missiles as far as 220 miles, the half-ton R-37 is “particularly difficult to evade,” according to Royal United Services Institute, & has reportedly shot down several Ukrainian warplanes.

The mere presence of R-37-armed MiG-31s in Crimea has compelled Ukrainian pilots to fly low in order to avoid detection. That limits how far Ukrainians can see with their own radars—and how far they can shoot with their own shorter-ranged missiles.

Every MiG-31 Russians lose makes the sky over Ukraine safer for Ukrainian pilots, so far, they’ve lost none in combat in Ukraine which anyone has confirmed. The Russian air force has just a hundred or so of the twin-engine, two-seat MiG-31s and takes pains to preserve them. In April, when it became apparent that Ukraine was getting ATACMS models capable of ranging nearly 200 miles, the Russians yanked four MiG-31s from Primorsko-Akhtarsk, in southern Russia 200 miles from the front—and relocated them to Privolzhsky, 500 miles away from front.

Since all of Crimea is in range of the farther-flying ATACMS. So if the Russians are going to fly around-the-clock air-defense patrols over Crimea with R-37-armed MiGs, it has few good options but to base at least a small number of MiGs on the peninsula—and risk the ATACMS too

We all yet to see, Ukraine F-16 Vs Russia Mig air battle is coming...anyday.

Nearly 10,000 Evacuated in Ukraine's Kharkiv Region: Governor. Kharkiv Region Governor Oleg Synegubov added that Ukraine's armed forces had repelled two attempts to break through defenses overnight.

Over a week after its launch, "a total of 9,907 people have been evacuated," they were fleeing Russian soldiers who managed to advance between 5 to 10 kilometres (3 to 6 miles) along the northeastern border before being stopped by Ukrainian forces.

Ukraine's armed forces had repelled two attempts to break through defenses overnight. Situation was "under control" with "defenders in certain areas conducting assault & combing operations."

Moscow has been attacking several settlements including Vovchansk, just five kilometres from the border.

"In the area of the city of Vovchansk, Ukrainian troops are reinforcing their defence," Synegubov said. Russian forces have taken 278 square kilometres (107 square miles) between May 9 and 15, their biggest gains since the end of 2022, AFP calculated using data from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Russia's offensive "could consist in several waves. There was the first wave" in the Kharkiv region, Zelensky told AFP journalists.

One critical factor in Russia's recent battlefield successes in Ukraine is its extensive use of glide bombs. Every week, hundreds of these large, deadly weapons rain down on Ukraine, creating 20-meter-wide craters and obliterating military positions and entire settlements.

Russia has heavily relied on glide bombs in its new offensive on Kharkiv Oblast, clearing the way for ground troops. Since May 10, Russian forces have captured several villages near the border and entered the town of Vovchansk. Despite their simplicity and low cost, glide bombs have become one of Russia's most effective weapons during the full-scale war, previously contributing to the fall of the strategic city of Avdiivka in February – Russia’s first major gain in nine months.

Experts warn that these bombs could pose an even greater threat to Ukraine, which currently has little defense against them, as Russia is expected to continue its mass deployment of glide bombs to support further offensive operations.
Reply

What is a glide bomb?
A glide bomb is a standard air-dropped bomb modified to be launched from a distance rather than directly over the target. Glide bombs date back to World War II, with the German Fritz X bomb being the first model. The U.S. later developed and used several types of glide bombs in conflicts in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

Russia mainly uses Soviet-era FAB-family bombs, upgraded with a Unified Gliding and Correction Module, which includes wings that flip out as the weapon is released by the aircraft and a satellite navigation system. Converting a "dumb bomb," an unguided one, into a smart one costs just around $20,000, making it a much cheaper alternative to cruise and ballistic missiles that cost millions of dollars to produce.

"The range of these weapons greatly varies based on their weight, the altitude and speed of the releasing aircraft, but is generally considered not to exceed 50-60 kilometers," according to Federico Borsari, Leonardo Fellow with the Transatlantic Defense and Security Program at the Center for European Policy Analysis.

Ukrainian forces gained more solid positions in Kharkiv Oblast, President Zelensky said in the evening address on May 19. They launched a new offensive on May 10 northern Kharkiv toward Lyptsi and Vovchansk, a town located less than 5 k/m (3 miles) from Russian border around 50 k/m (31 miles) from the city of Kharkiv.

Zelensky said he received updates from Ukraine's Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi who is currently staying with front-line assault brigades.
"As a result these days, whole week, we have secured stronger positions in Kharkiv. 57th Brigade & 82nd Air Assault Brigade, thank you, warriors!" Zelensky said. He also said Ukraine successfully repels Russian assaults in Donetsk including area near city of Chasiv Yar, which became one of the main strategic targets.

Russian troops have not been achieving their aim of spreading Ukrainian forces along entire front line in Kharkiv & Donetsk, the president added. The Russia's offensive in Kharkiv in mid-May could be the first of several waves, & Russian forces may target regional capital, Kharkiv, Zelensky said in an interview with AFP on May 17.

Russian troops managed to advance as far as 10 kilometers (6 miles) as a result. Ukraine's military intelligence chief, Kyrylo Budanov, suggested earlier Russian forces may launch a similar offensive in Sumy Oblast when the conditions are more favorable. As result Ukraine secures some stronger positions in Kharkiv.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with Agence France-Presse (AFP). Kyiv would need 120 to 130 F-16 fighters or other advanced warplanes to battle Russia.

According to Zelensky, Kyiv needs this number of F-16s “in order to have parity” with Moscow.
Moscow had repeatedly stated flooding Ukraine with weapons would neither affect Russian resolve nor change course of its special military ops. It also threatened to annihilate F-16 fighters and called them no match to Su-35 fighters.

Despite Russian assertion, Kyiv has been aggressively requesting for F-16 fighting falcons and believes they could be game changers in the ongoing War.

What Makes The F-16 Special?
F-16 Fighting Falcon, a symbol of aerial prowess & versatility, been a cornerstone of numerous air forces around world since introduction in 1970s. Developed by General Dynamics (now Lockheed Martin) for US Air Force, F-16 is a multi-role fighter known for its agility, advanced avionics, and adaptability to a variety of combat scenarios.

Despite emergence of 5th-generation fighters like F-35, the F-16 continues to be an integral part of global air power. Ongoing upgrades & production of new variants ensure  F-16 remain operational for decades to come, providing a cost-effective solution for air forces needing a versatile and proven combat aircraft. US Air Force, “In air combat role, F-16’s maneuverability combat radius exceeds of all potential threat fighter aircraft.can locate targets in all weather conditions and detect low-flying aircraft in radar ground clutter.”

For air-to-surface role, USAF says “the F-16 can fly more than 500 miles (860 kilometers), deliver weapons with superior accuracy, defend itself against enemy aircraft, and return to its starting point. An all-weather capability allows it to deliver ordnance accurately during non-visual bombing conditions.” These capabilities are expected to bolster Ukraine’s might at a time when its military is stretched to the limit.

Zelensky says ‘world can stop Russian terror’ as he seeks more Patriots for Ukraine and more...

Putin loses more, 1,500 plus soldiers in faltering Kharkiv offensive. He (Putin) will be made to pay to rebuild Ukraine, says US secretary of state.
Russia has lost more than 1,500 soldiers in the past week in the grinding war in Kharkiv even as Vladimir Putin claimed he has “no plans” to take Ukraine’s second largest city.

As of yesterday evening, Russia has lost 1,572 soldiers in just the last seven days and 263 units of military equipment, including 75 drones, 66 army vehicles and eight tanks, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said.

Tens of thousands of Russian forces stormed across the border into the Kharkiv region last month to capture the city. But Mr Putin, speaking in Beijing last week, said his troops have “no plans as of today” to try and take control of Kharkiv city.

MOSCOW – The Russian military said on May 20 it had taken full control of the settlement of Bilohorivka in Ukraine’s eastern Luhansk region and had taken up better positions in the area.
The Russian Ministry said it forces had been involved in fierce clashes in Kharkiv region near Vovchansk, Starytsia and Hlyboke, earlier in May thrust into Kharkiv region. What Russian President Vladimir Putin said was an operation to create a buffer zone to protect Russia’s border regions.

Ukraine’s officials said its troops still control about 60% of Vovchansk, fighting house-to-house to defend the border town in north-eastern Kharkiv region from Russian attacks, in their most detailed public assessment of battle to date.

Capturing Vovchansk would be Moscow’s most significant gain since it opened a new front in the northern part of Kharkiv region in May, stretching Kyiv’s forces into 3rd year full-scale invasion.

“The enemy continues to try, especially inside Vovchansk, to push out Ukrainian armed forces”.
Russia says it has taken full control of Luhansk’s Bilohorivka in eastern. Vovchansk’s police chief said earlier in May Russian forces had taken positions in the town and called the situation “extremely difficult”. The Russia’s push in Kharkiv region assaults in areas of Vovchansk and Lyptsi forced Ukraine to send reinforcements stretching its troops along more than 1,000km front line in the east and south.

Ukraine earlier said forces had repelled Russian attacks at Starytsia, about 5 k/m from border with Russia, some of Kyiv’s units worked to strengthen defensive positions in that area (May 20), the local authorities had evacuated around 10,500 people away from border areas since May 10. (Reuters)

MOSCOW said on May 19 Ukraine launched a major drone attack on Russian regions forcing a oil refinery in southern Russia to halt ops, and that Kyiv's forces had fired US, French and Ukrainian missiles into Russian-held territory. About drones, including (plus) Ukraine's Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) has attack Crimea, with French guided "Hammer" bombs and US High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS).

Local officials said 62 drones attack's onto the territory, a oil refinery in Slavyansk Russia's southern Krasnodar region. Interfax news agency said refinery halted working after been attack. The TASS said refinery attack carried out by Ukrainian drones were bigger than previous attacks and that they included steel balls, a oil plant with a capacity of 4 million metric tons of oil per year, about 1 million bpd.

A Ukrainian intelligence source told Reuters in Kyiv Ukraine's security service SBU and military drones struck Slavyansk refinery & military airfield in Russia's southern Krasnodar region in overnight attacks.

Russia soldiers, their forces had stop Ukraine's 24th, 42nd mechanized brigades, the 125th Air Defence Brigade at Lukiantsi, also at Vesele & Radhospne in Kharkiv region & also repelled attacks by Kyiv's forces at other points. As Russia reported a rise in Ukrainian attacks on its territory since its forces opened a new front northeastern Ukraine's Kharkiv region with US aid. (May).

President Vladimir Putin says Russia is carving out a buffer zone there to protect Russia from such attacks, which Russia says risk triggering a broader war between Russia and the West if Ukraine uses Western weapons. Mr Putin said on May 17 that Russia had no plans currently to take Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-biggest city,

White House said on May 17 says US policy on not encouraging Ukraine's use of US weapons against Russian sovereign territory had not changed. (ButWe do not encourage nor do we enable attacks using US-supplied weapons systems inside Russian territory. That’s the policy," Mr John Kirby, the White House national security spokesman,

"That has not changed." That says after US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on May 15 US does not encourage strike targets inside Russia with US-supplied weapons but believes it is a decision Kyiv should make for itself.

Is very dangerous to view world’s conflicts as distant and unrelated: Estonia PM Kallas

TALLINN, Estonia – Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine should not be seen as a faraway war for those in Asia, Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas said on May 17, just as European democracies have a vested interest in the stability of the Indo-Pacific region.

With several conflicts simmering in various parts of the world today, Ms Kallas warned of the dangers of perceiving them as unrelated incidents because they are geographically distant, pointing to history when seemingly isolated incidents led to World War II.

“What is important to understand is that there are different tensions building up all across the world,” she said, at a media round-table discussion May 17. She is on the sidelines of the Lennart Meri security conference.

Czech ammunition buy for Ukraine nears first delivery, faces headwinds. BRATISLAVA, Slovakia — Three months after kickstarting a bulk ammunition purchase for Ukraine, Czech officials share divergent assessments of how it’s going.

“The Czech-led initiative to fund and procure urgently artillery ammo for Ukraine is progressing steadily – the first 180,000 shells have been contracted and should arrive by June,” František Šulc, the first Deputy Minister of Defense of the Czech Republic told Defense News during the IDEB defense fair, held here May 14-16.

Prague is actively engaged with partner nations to secure additional financial resources and ensure a “steady supply of ammunition” to Ukraine in the coming months, however, not all officials appear to share the same optimistic view of the state of the audacious proposal, which entails of sourcing much-needed 122mm and 155mm artillery shells on the global market.

In a recent interview with the German news service Tagesschau, Czech President Petr Pavel said the initiative was not advancing as rapidly as envisaged partly due to the Russian govt knowing details of the operation

There have also been growing worries about the possibility of Russia intercepting operational details of Ukraine-related procurement efforts since the leak of a German Air Force teleconference about possibly sending Taurus cruise missiles to Kyiv.

According to Šulc, more than 16 European Union and NATO countries have joined the ammunition initiative and contributed money. They working through coordination snags, especially with procuring from non-European vendors.

“One of the challenges is the need to source products outside the European defense industry due to time constraints – necessitates negotiating with partner nations for sufficient funding and navigating regulatory environments in third countries,” Meeting the security and specific requirements of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is also “very time consuming,” he added.
