All this thanks to American HIMARS systems.

The Special Operations Forces of Ukraine (SSO) have periodically reported successful destruction of Russian military equipment and personnel using American HIMARS systems.

For eg, SSO fighters recently announced the destruction of a Russian Hyacinth-S 152-mm self-propelled gun (2S5) & a Buk missile system using HIMARS system. Additionally, the SSO reported the destruction of the Zhitel Russian electronic warfare complex with HIMARS.
Since first deliveries of US M142 HIMARS to Ukraine June 2022, plus US$60 resent. They Russian forces have try to hunt these systems and frequently claimed to have destroyed them.

Ukrainian workshops build more than 100,000 explosive first-person-view drones every month for Ukrainian military. That’s lot of drones. each drone weighs a few pounds, typically carries a single grenade weighing just a pound or so.
How Ukrainian Drone Weighing Just A Few Pounds Blow Up A 46-Ton Russian Tank?.

The Warhead Is the Answer, seems some Ukrainian drones can conduct top-down attacks. Russian T-80 tank explodes follow FPV strike.
So 100,000 drones represent a lot of firepower, it’s not very heavy firepower. FPV drones are extremely dangerous exposed to infantry, but armored vehicles can usually shrug off multiple strikes by FPVs—and keep fighting.

That appears to be changing, it's now Ukrainian drone crews found some way to massively boost explosive potential FPV. As Russian T-80 tank rolled along Ukrainian lines in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk recently.

Surveillance drone from Ukrainian army’s 47th Mechanized Brigade observed from high overhead, an FPV drone zipped past a 46-ton, The T-80 sported & turned around but too slow, as an anti-drone screen show then. This quadcopter FPV barreled toward T-80. Normally FPV strike on a tank would result in minor damage. This time, T-80 exploded in massive fireball & separated the turret from the hull & incinerated the crew.

FPV crew get lucky?, or new technology at work? a former quality auditor w/U.S. Defense Contract Management Agency, suspected the latter. “I'm beginning to wonder if Ukrainian FPV builders have stolen (an idea) from Swedish RBS-56.”
RBS-56 is an anti-tank missile, designed by Swedish Bofors, packs a 25-pound warhead can triggered by sensors on missile’s underside, explodes downward instead of forward. Top-down attack method targets thin armor on a tank’s topside.

Before death in a still-mysterious plane crash last year, mercenary chief Prigozhin led a brief rebellion against the military leadership, saying it mismanaged war & denied weapons ammunition to his forces. Belousov's appointment is “a grudging recognition from Kremlin” has to pay attention to these problems, it's also critical the war is managed correctly b'cos Russia's economy depends on it as Russians are earning higher salaries driven by booming defense sector that created problems with inflation, it allows Putin to keep delivering promises to raise life standards.

Belousov, the new defense minister, is clearing out his predecessor’s associates & sending msg that “things are going to be done differently.” Other changes include Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Sadovenko was replaced by Oleg Saveliev, a former aide to Belousov, & Rossiyana Markovskaya, a former Shoigu spokesperson who said she was quitting to take a new job.

Popov's case may be different. He fought in Ukraine and was suspended in July 2023 for criticizing the Defense Ministry leadership — like Prigozhin did — and blaming it for a lack of weapons and poor supply lines that led to many Russian casualties.

Should this be a turf battle?
Its unclear whether Kremlin or Russia's security services, particularly. The State Security Service, or FSB, are the driving force behind the arrests.

It's possible officials sufficiently distant from Putin could have caught in middle of a my turf war unconnected to appointment of new defense minister.

The security services, could be trying to “push back” against the military's dominance seen since Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine in 2022. While the Kremlin denies that any kind of a purge was taking place, “if Putin didn’t want it to happen, it wouldn’t be happening,” Putin seem not saying an thing, but with other action, if's he saying yes to action.

Block 70/72 provides commonality with the latest-generation platforms. For F-16 to match the capabilities of fifth-generation fighters, such as F-22 Raptor & the F-35 Lightning II, radar and communication capabilities must be enhanced.

The Block 70/72 is equipped with Northrop Grumman’s advanced APG-83 AESA radar to digitally control transmitted radio waves, unlike passive electronic array-based systems. Ukrainian Air Force Wanted Four Squadrons Of F-16s. It’s Finally Getting Them. Ex-Belgian jets boost Ukraine’s future F-16 fleet to 85 planes.
It’s taken more than a year of intensive diplomacy for Ukrainian, Norwegian, Dutch, Danish& Belgian officials, to finally getting his four squadrons.

Gen. Serhii Golubtsov, Commander of Ukrainian air force, has said all along needed four operational squadrons of Lockheed Martin F-16 fighters to have any chance of controlling air over a single sector of 700-mile front line of Russia’s wider war on Ukraine. On Tuesday, Ukrainian president announced Belgium would donate 30 surplus F-16s—boosting to 85 the total number of the nimble, supersonic fighters Ukraine should receive starting this summer.

That’s enough jets to sustain Ukrainians’ F-16 training unit in Romania—currently flying 18 ex-Dutch F-16s—also equipping equivalent of four squadrons each with 16 jets. The three additional planes would presumably be in reserve to replace the inevitable combat losses.

The 64 front-line jets—the equivalent of a U.S. Air Force fighter wing—could achieve local air superiority, albeit temporarily. “To has a plan an operation from A to Z, I think it is worth talking about at least a squadron, at least 12 to 16 planes,” Golubtsov explained. “If it'll be at least 3 to 4 squadrons, I think that in a separate direction we will be able to gain superiority in the air.”

The 1980s-vintage F-16s from Norwegian, Dutch, Danish & Belgian air forces upgraded to common standard in the late 1990s & early 2000s has modern radars, are compatible with a wide array of precision munitions & electronic jammers.

Continue from above...Lobbing anti-radar missiles & satellite-guided glide bombs, the 12-ton F-16s could suppress Russian air defenses to strike Russian supply lines. Armed with AIM-120 air-to-air missiles, fighters could “force the enemy to completely abandon the strikes they are currently making in a certain area,” Golubtsov said.

The general was referring to Russia’s escalating glide-bombing campaign. Since mid-2023, Russian air force Sukhoi Su-30, Su-34 and Su-35 fighters—each hauling as many as four KAB glide bombs—have been pummeling Ukrainian positions and cities from as far as 40 miles away with as many as 3,000 bombs a month.

A single KAB weigh more than a ton strike within tens of yards of its aim point. “Bombs completely destroy any position,” wrote Egor Sugar, a trooper with Ukrainian army’s 3rd Assault Brigade. “All buildings & structures simply turn into a pit.”

KAB glide-bombs are a “miracle weapon” for the Russians, Ukrainian noted back in March & right now, Ukrainians have “practically no counter measures.” The Ukrainian air force’s 75 or so existing ex-Soviet fighters lack modern radars &  air-to-air missiles; air force’s surface-to-air missile batteries are too few in number to protect every city and troop concentration.

F-16s can target Russian glide bombers from as far as 100 miles, pushing bombers away from vulnerable cities and positions &, for first time in a year, blunting Russia’s aerial edge

F-16s missiles target Russian glide bombers from as far as 100 miles, that’s only possible with latest teefarthest-flying AIM-120 missiles. Old AIM-120B ranges just 30 miles; the new AIM-120D boasts an impressive range in excess of 100 miles.

Pentagon hasn’t specified what variants AIM-120 be given to Ukraine to Ukrainian air forces, but confirmed AIM-120D is on the list. “The United States will supply Ukraine with AMRAAM aircraft missiles with a range of 160 to 180 kilometers,” Yuriy Inhat, a Ukrainian air force spokesperson, said last year. 180 kilometers is 112 miles.

The four squadrons of F-16s could balance power over the front line back in Ukraine’s favor—but it won’t happen all at once. The F-16s are set to arrive in small batches over a period of years as more of the tt’s taken more than a year intensive diplomacy between Ukrainian, Norwegian, Dutch, Danish and Belgian officials, but Golubtsov is finally getting his four squadrons.

French President Emmanuel Macron speaks to reporters @Schloss Meseberg castle, north of Berlin, Gransee, Germany, May 28, 2024 - CNN

Ukraine can use French weapons, including long-range missiles, against targets inside Russia from which Moscow attacks Ukraine. He think that we can allow them to neutralize the military sites from which the missiles are fired and, basically, the military sites from which Ukraine is attacked,” Macron said during a press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Brandenburg, Germany.

Ukrainian soil is being attacked from bases in Russia. Now, we can't explain to Ukrainians that we’re going what to protect these towns … if we tell them you are not allowed to hit the point from which these missiles are fired?”.

France has supplied Ukraine with an unknown number of SCALP cruise missiles, the French Defense Ministry’s website. SCALP missiles have a range of up to 155 kilometers (96 miles) carry a 400 k/m (881-pound) high-explosive warhead, according to Missile Threat project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

SCALP is equivalent of Britain’s Storm Shadow, also been given to Ukraine by British Foreign Secretary David Cameron, earlier this month could be used at Kyiv’s discretion.

“In whateven the Ukrainians do, in our view its their decision how to use these weapons, they are defending their country, they said, Ukraine were illegally invaded by Putin.

The new commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi has built a fearsome reputation as a military commander in l war with Russia, but he faces major challenges, including mobilise new forces & combat corruption in the ranks.

Over past week, President Zelenskyy has fired most of his top generals in an attempt to “reset” manage the country’s decimated, undermanned and undersupplied armed forces.

The list of 15 dismissed generals includes the popular commander-in-chief, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, who has been replaced by Syrskyi – described by some as a “butcher” with little regard for loss of human life. Some heads of combined forces, military reserve, ground & airborne forces, along with some of their deputies and advisers, have survived the cull.

The first thought is absolutely unprecedented action,” said Nikolay Mitrokhin of Germany’s Bremen Uni, who has writing detailed analyses of Russia-Ukraine war since conflict began in 2022. “Apparently, it was coordinated with the new commander-in-chief, Syrskyi, who named the people he would want to work with as a team,” Mitrokhin told Ukraine

Those wave of dismissals follows failure of last year’s counteroffensive on Russian-occupied southern & eastern Ukraine, plus corruption scandals, dire delays to Western military aid & chaotic management of the armed forces.

We were persuaded by other members of aviation coalition to wait with Gripen(on standby). Gripen a modern Western-made fighter jets to challenge Russia Sukhoi/Mikoyan terms in maneuverability.

The Ukraine has opt for old reliable F-16s, at least for now, hoping it'll help match their aerial against capabilities of Russia's fleet. American f-16 will replace Ukraine's strained fleet of MiG-29s, Su-24s & Su-25s — jets came of age. Pilot training is estimated upto 8-mths, with Belgium & Denmark expecting to transfer 30 + 19 jets, respectively from Netherlands planning a similar timeline.

It means it is possible to declare, definitively, Russian campaign to knock out Ukraine’s power grid has failed, & whatever happens next in the war, its people will not be frozen out of their homes, as was once feared when bombing campaign began since the Russia declare on Feb 2022.

The reality, was missile strikes by Russia is on again on key infrastructure and killing Ukrainian folks argely at the end of each day with Russian missile new stocks, according to Ukrainian estimates.

The American F16s fighters will replace Ukraine's old strained fleet of MiG-29s, Su-24s, and Su-25s — jets that came of age during the Cold War.
