Strikes at ranges greater than 60 km by HIMARS are highly dependent on intelligence data. Recently, Washington Post reported that some batteries armed with HIMARS are no longer receiving coordinates when they want to strike targets located at a distance greater than 60 km, Forbes reports. Washington cut off a key intelligence channel to Ukraine. no longer receives real-time info to launch long-range strikes against enemy.
HIMARS, like other artillery systems, just needs map grid coordinates—manually calculated or aided by GPS—to accurately strike a target. Coordinates can come from any intelligence source: a satellite, a drone, radio eavesdropping or even a human spotter with a pair of binoculars.
Which is why, around same time the U.S. began blocking intel, a Ukrainian HIMARS blasted a concentration of Russian troops around Pokrovsk, in eastern Ukraine, its nearest to Russian regiments a few miles from Pokrovsk, within reach of even smaller drones. Experts say Ukraine continues to receive info from its own or European intelligence, but the information from the United States has been clearer . On the one hand, Ukraine can solve this problem thanks to Europe. Many in EU have the same space capabilities as US, but on a smaller scale. At same time should not forget about existence of commercial providers of such services. All that is required is to pay them money for the info provided. Until Trump changes his anti-Ukrainian policy, Ukrainian Armed Forces can fire at enemy from HIMARS, but not from as far away or accurately. But can still fire. At least til their rockets, most have been donated by US, run out.
Recent estimates suggest only 20% of total military hardware supplied to Ukrainian now from US — 55% is Ukrainian-produced & 25% is from Europe & rest of the world, Malcolm Chalmers, RUSI's Deputy Director-General, said. But he called that 20% "the most lethal and important." Ukraine will not collapse — they already experienced an aid cutoff last year, effect will be cumulative," he added. Ukraine also set to receive more arms this year directly from US manufacturers that were approved during the Biden administration, and it's unclear if President Donald Trump's administration will attempt to block them.

Ukraine's massive drone assault on Moscow & beyond, a clear msg—revenge is here. Over 100 drones struck Russian oil refineries, power plants & disrupted Moscow’s airports, bringing war to Putin’s doorstep. As Ukraine up drone production for 30,000 longer ranges since last year.

War between Ukraine / Russia is reshaping international dynamics. Unlike the European Union, the United States has changed its stance towards Ukraine. After recent summit between US Donald Trump & Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy, all tensions have escalated. Trump accused Zelenskyy of wanting to continue warIII try to steal Ukraine mineral as he did not sign the agreement. Trump therefore stated that all US military aid to Ukraine would be cut off it raises a very critical question that European side pick up.
