Spring has arrived in Ukraine – temperatures is reasonably to high of 17C

Ukrainian unveiled specs of Russia’s shadowy hypersonic cruise missile. 3M22 Zircon, intercepted by US missile over Kyiv, on March 25, examining remnants missiles & hypersonic ramjet engine on Zircon. Unlike Kh-47 Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missile, Zircon hypersonic speeds, marking a significant advance in Russian missile technology.
Zircon involves an “mortar” launch followed by a booster stage, propelling missile to high altitudes & achieving hypersonic velocities, its flight altitudes of several tens of kilometers, Zircon attains a constant speed of up to 5.5 Mach, mitigating thermal stress in the rarefied atmosphere. Warhead fact:: it's warhead weight, approximately 100-150 kg with upto 40kg of explosive material, is lower tha anti-ship missiles.
Questions against larger naval vessels, like destroyers or aircraft carriers. Considering rates, Zircon’s cost may soar to a dozen million, resource-intensive development suggests limited production capacity, potentially a few dozen to a hundred units annually. In contrast to propaganda claims, Zircon’s suitability complexity & higher resource demands may reduce production, underscoring the challenges facing its deployment.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has told the German Tagesspiegel newspaper that the war in Ukraine was unlikely to end anytime soon.
“He [Putin] makes it more than clear that he is beyond the reach of rational arguments and the values of humanity. And he definitely doesn’t want to negotiate,” she said.If Putin wins in Ukraine, “our security and international order will be at risk,” Baerbock said. Ukraine’s support is our own guarantee of security,” the foreign minister concluded.

Volodymyr Zelenskiy, the Ukrainian president, told the speaker of the US House of Representatives during a phone call on Thursday that it was vital for Congress to pass a new military aid package for Ukraine. Mike Johnson, the speaker, has held up a bill for months that would supply $60bn in military and financial aid.

“We recognise that there are differing views in the House of Representatives on how to proceed, but the key is to keep the issue of aid to Ukraine as a unifying factor,” Zelenskiy said.

He said he briefed Johnson about the situation on the battlefield and also spoke about “the dramatic increase in Russia’s air terror”. The Ukrainian military later said that its top commander, Oleksander
Syrskyi, spoke to the US chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, Charles Brown, about battlefield issues.

Zelenskiy, in a CBS interview, has warned that Putin will push Russia’s war “very quickly” on to Nato soil unless he is stopped in Ukraine.

He acknowledged that his troops are not prepared to defend against another imminent major Russian offensive, and highlighted the urgency for American Patriot missile defence systems and more artillery.

Czech initiative to purchase artillery shells for Ukraine outside of NATO has been completed and is now awaiting delivery. The full amount has now been raised to purchase more than a million artillery shells, which Ukraine is to receive in April.

In total, more than 15 countries raised approximately €1.8 billion as part of the Czech initiative, which was urgently used to pay for artillery ammunition.  As previously reported, the country’s representatives managed to find about 500,000 155-mm artillery shells and 300,000 122-mm shells abroad.

Subsequently, Czech Republic reported it had found an additional 200,000 shells, but did not provide details on the caliber of the shells or other details. To date, about 20 countries have joined the Czech initiative to purchase artillery shells outside NATO and the EU, including Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, France, and Norway, as well as Canada, Sweden, Portugal, and Lithuania.

In addition, European defense companies, such as Germany’s Rheinmetall and the UK’s BAE Systems, are expanding their production at a rapid pace. German defense giant Rheinmetall plans to produce more than a million artillery shells annually by 2027.

By end of 2024, the company should produce 700,000 artillery shells. New production facilities in Germany, Ukraine, and Lithuania are expected to help the company reach the one million-unit mark.

It also noted that countries such as Denmark, Finland, Sweden, and Norway are also expanding and returning to artillery shell production. Militarnyi previously reported Denmark bought a bankrupt munitions factory to resume arms production amid the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Ukraine’s navy claims it has sunk or disabled a third of all Russian warships in the Black Sea in just over two years of war. Dmytro Pletenchuk from the navy said the latest strike on Saturday night hit the Russian amphibious landing ship Kostiantyn Olshansky, which was resting in dock in Sevastopol in Russia-occupied Crimea. The ship was Ukrainian before being captured by Russia in 2014.

Pletenchuk previously announced that two other landing ships of the same type, Azov and Yamal, also were damaged in Saturday’s strike along with the Ivan Khurs intelligence ship. He said the weekend attack, using Ukraine-built Neptune missiles, also hit Sevastopol port facilities and an oil depot.

“Our ultimate goal is complete absence of military ships of the so-called Russian Federation in the Azov and Black Sea regions,” Pletenchuk said.
Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, has replaced the secretary of Ukraine’s national security council, Oleksiy Danilov, with Oleksandr Lytvynenko, 51, head of the foreign intelligence service. Danilov had been secretary of the council since October 2019. Zelenskiy said Danilov was being transferred to new duties, with details to be made public later.

“The strengthening of Ukraine and the renewal of our state system in all sectors will continue.”
Ukraine has staged further air attacks on Belgorod, just over the border inside Russia.

The regional governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, reported damage on the ground and claimed air defence engaged 18 incoming targets.

Nato is considering shooting down Russian missiles that stray too close to its borders, Poland’s deputy foreign minister, Andrzej Szejna, has told Polish media outlet RMF24.

“[Russia] knew that if the missile moved further into Poland, it would be shot down. There would be a counterattack.” Poland’s armed forces said Russia violated Poland’s airspace on Sunday morning with a cruise missile launched at targets in western Ukraine.

Ukraine’s govt is flooding money into its defence industry, budgeting nearly $1.4bn in 2024 to develop weapons at home – 20 times more than before Russia’s full-scale invasion, the Associated Press has reported.

A huge portion of weapons are being bought from privately owned factories sprouting up across the country, such as a mortar factory in western Ukraine making roughly 20,000 shells a month. To help with labour shortages, the govt has exempted defence industry workers from military service.

Ukraine’s election day dawns with no vote in sight and little appetite for one – for now, anyway.
In another world, Ukraine would be voting today. In a year where billions get the chance to cast a ballot, people here would be giving their verdict on the presidency of Volodymyr Zelensky.

Five years ago, the man whose talents as an actor, comedian and producer had made him a household name in Ukraine was propelled into office. But with Russian forces still inside the country and millions of Ukrainians displaced from their homes, fighting on the frontlines, or living overseas, there is no election in sight.

Some US Republicans have sought to make the upcoming expiration of Zelensky’s term, which happens in May, another reason why military aid should be withheld.

Zelensky himself has said he was open to the idea but in recent months has made it clear it is not something he believes the country can or should do. Although Sunday is the day the constitution says Ukraine should be voting, it also does not allow it during wartime. The alternative would be to suspend martial law for the period of an election.

On Kyiv’s Maidan square large open space, through which cuts one of the city’s main thoroughfares, was the cradle of what Ukrainians call the Revolution of Dignity - the uprising ten years ago that pushed out the country’s pro-Putin leader, Viktor Yanukovych, and shifted Ukraine’s focus towards Europe and the United States.

Mykola Lyapin, a 21-year-old student, is having a smoke before the rain comes. He would have voted for Zelensky five years ago if he had had the chance and would vote for him now.  He has no fear that when the time comes the president will move on.
“Our people are free, we proved it in 2014, when we were dissatisfied with President Yanukovych. We came here to Maidan, some even lost their lives, but we achieved what we wanted.

It is in our genes to defend our position. If the people really believe Zelensky has been running country for too long a time, we will solve it, even if the war is ongoing.”

Having No Choice’ Kyiv Willing to Accept US$60B Aid in Any Form, Even as Loan.

Sources in Ukraine’s parliament, now, it’s predict in any terms and conditions of approval of US aid to Ukraine by the House of Representatives. Speaker House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, announced on Sunday, he"ll submit this bill with more than $60B in aid to Ukraine after the Easter recess, which ends on April 9.

However, package may include “some important innovations,” among which Johnson mentioned the credit terms & possibility of using frozen Russian assets to finance Ukraine’s recovery.

To Politico, the appropriate legislation may be approved, allowing Biden administration to confiscate around $5 bil to $8 bil in Russian sovereign assets under US jurisdiction.

White House has ensured bill already approved by Senate has every chance of gaining bipartisan support by House Representatives, commenting on Johnson’s proposal for “innovations.”

First there were 2-missile strikes, then about 40 minutes later, more other strikes at same place – just as rescuers, police started working.” Reuters TV footage showed reporters rushing to help colleagues lying injured on the ground before emergency crews arrived.

A Ukrainian drone attack targeting the Morozovsk airbase in Russia killed or injured at least 20 members of airfield personnel and destroyed six Russian warplanes, as well as badly damaging eight others, according to officials in Kyiv.

Russian defence officials, however, claimed they intercepted more than 40 Ukrainian drones &
only a power substation was damaged in the barrage.

Neither side’s claims could be independently verified. Morozovsk airbase is used by Russian tactical bombers that launch guided bombs at the Ukrainian military and frontline towns and cities, according to a Kyiv source.

The U.S. bill passed by Senate authorizes about $60 billion in support for Ukraine, most of it for weapons aid. U.S. House (Republicans) Johnson did not describe plans for his version of the bill in detail, but suggested lawmakers would consider at least three potential elements: providing aid in the form of loans.

WASHINGTON -- After months of delays that have sapped the strength of Ukraine’s fight against the Russian invasion, a multibillion-dollar aid bill may soon be headed toward passage by the U.S. Congress, albeit with substantial challenges still in its path.

Mike Johnson, the Republican speaker of the House of Representatives, told Fox News on March 31 that he wants new Ukraine aid approved “right now” and suggested he would propose a package soon after Congress returns from recess on April 9.
