To solve the problem TSMC shift hundreds of Taiwan staff to the U.S., 300 of them boarded the plane last week. More and more will be relocated to the U.S. with families, all very happy.

Actually TSMC and Elon Musk have similar culture. Elon should move Twitter to TW. Only Taiwanese (and Asians in general) can stand his "hardcore" work like mad requirement. Americans too lum nuah.

Shipping off to  America to be workers there ? What choice does TMCS has  with Biden's CHIP law ?

Sounds like US cotton industry used to do in the 1800s relying on African slaves and their families... Big Grin

In short, TW's next generate prosperity will be in the agricultural sector loh ? Shouldn't TW education now prepare their future force in growing pineapples and other cash crops ?

For chip production, they need lots lots of water and electricity, Arizona is in desert, where do they get the water and electricity from?

US semicon plan is now run by politicians, not industrialists. You don't know meh ?  Big Grin

Over 30 years ago, they did the same thing to Japanese car industry when Americans automakers cannot compete.

Some Yanks smashed up Toyota cars and then later US passed law and $ incentives to forced Jap to make cars in USA.

Not sure if this is the skill set that TSMC Arizona is looking for.
Perhaps roles as facility security guard. But definitely not suitable for clean room operations in the bunny suit 24/7.
Those who have worked in a FAB plant will know what I meant Big Grin

Wow TSMC was bought over by US to help US prosper, Taiwan workers go there to suffer for them to help them progress while their local citizens enjoy human rights in terms of working hours?

I think very likely too.

Currently China production cap is limited to 28nm and some 14nm. The low yield for 14nm chips and inability to produce 7nm and below is due to them not having EUV litho machines. But once the Chinese companies overcome this handicap in the next 5-6 years thru their own R&D, TSMC US fabs will find it hard to compete.

Huawei's recently announced their patent on EUV mirror control (optical lens doesn't work for EUV light):
