US was one of the largest oil user importing about 2 million barrels per day from Saudi. Now they are only importing about 1/10 of that amount. Think China is the biggest importer now. They are not stupid to continue using USD in trades with China.

When if first saw this type end of USD as trade and reserve currency was more than 10yrs ago...then i went to check ever since Nixon abandon the gold standard Bretton woods agreement 50yrs ago people have been predicting end of USD. Now this petrol dollar thing is just a myth - story goes something like kissinger told.saudi if they demand that oil be paid in USD US will protect Saudi ...which is a myth.

If you bother to check, the power of the US comes from the trillions of debt issued in US$ that needs to be paid back in US$. US$ denominated debt is $65trillion in total. ..this creates never ending demand for US$.

Why Saudi is paid in USD is because US has the largest treasury and stock market jn the world when they are paid in USD they can use it to buy US stocks. If they are paid in other currencies they will have difficulty using the currency. Imagine if they are paidnin phillipines peso ...what are they going to do with that.?

It used to be the US pumping oil and selling it to the outside world. The profit will then be shared with the Saudis rubber-stamped through megaprojects and cities built by the US. The US dollar is unlikely to dominate 50yrs from now but 10-20yrs it will still be dominant 

The Chjnese Securities and equity market is not as open as the US because the CCP does not want too much foreign influence over their markets. ...look at what happen during Asian crisis. Even the Yuan they maintain onshore and off shore version to keep speculators from attacking the financial system.

The US is willing to cede control over its market by making it very open. Anyone can just go and buy stocks, land and companies ...Saudi owns AMD, large % of nvidia etc. 

You just don't get all these from other economies and currencies
