Contrary to popular belief, there aren't "many issues" in Thai politics. Many people have this misconception that Thailand is in trouble because of an erroneous focus on parliamentary elections which is just one of the many pillars of social governance and stability.

Thailand's governance is centered around a power sharing agreement between various elite factions made up of the royalty, military, politicians, business conglomerates, Sangha and academia. Despite lots of surface upheaval over the century, this ruling elite dynamic has been surprisingly stable.

Any leader from any faction can nominally lead the country in peace as long as he/she does not try to encroach on the other factions' core interests. Thaksin tried to shake things up with mass support during his stint as the PM and was promptly put down when all the rest of the elites ganged up against him. Now that the Phue Thai is back in power, the elites will leave him be as long as he pledges to uphold the existing governance structure.

Ditto the Move Forward Party which outrightly challenged the existing power sharing dynamic, no way they are going to let these guys go ahead.
