Reverend Amos Brown is 83 years old. On this Sunday morning, he enters the Third Baptist Church in San Francisco and sits down on a huge wooden chair.
But as frail as his body appears, his spirit seems unbroken. He has been pastoring the congregation for almost 50 years.
In his speech from the pulpit at the beginning of the service, he will always manage to get the 250 or so churchgoers cheering.
"God is leading us into a glorious community," says Brown, "without any trivial distinctions such as race, gender, social status, class, sexual orientation. God has made no mistakes. Let us celebrate that."
