Half of the people here are foreigners whom we were told to integrate with. How good can the English standard be?

You mean to make English the lingua franca in Singapore? That has to be LKY. We cannot deny his foresight. Not Hokkien, not Mandarin, not Malay, but English.

Volunteer english teachers mean they are not paid. Luckily they reject the volunteers. Who wants to teach in the ulu dark kampong schools there. Even their own teachers of the same breed also dont want to teach in the ulu kampong schools. WTF.

Not only English, mandarin must be required too. This is what we called bi-lingual.

Malay language is as important. Singaporean Chinese should not be complacent if they do not want to lose out to Malaysia. Malaysia Chinese can speak Malay fluently as well as Mandarin. Whenever I see a Chinese and a Malay conversed in Malay, I felt that there is closeness and sincerity in their conversation. Our Pioneer and Merdeka generation are conversant in Malay but the generations after I wonder if they know even a few Malay words. Even Malay in Malaysia are learning Mandarin as a third language.  Likewise,  Singapore Chinese should made an effort to learn Malay.

Actually Chinese ppl are already very accommodating and flexible, they'd try to assimilate and integrate with the locals. Malaysian Chinese is an example, and those in Thailand, Indonesia and so on. Some even gave up their identifies and call themselves han, baba or something instead of chinese

Actually this is a good reminder for our new leaders. Especially PM LW.
Don't be too silly in believing good innocent simple gesture will be appreciated by Bolehland.

Especially from theirs political leaders, always seeking for votes.

In every proposal from Bolehland politicians with regards to bilateral cooperation.
There are many loopholes, unthinkable hostile reactions and politicking in their parliament.

A simple, cost-free, positive vibes joint educational program for their rural areas, initiated by their Malaysian PM.
Also can be use by Bolehland politician to score point and sneering at SG.

LW should remember this lesson well. And Mai Kay Kiang with Bolehland anymore.
Especially for the upcoming SEZ plan with JB and SG.
Better remain cautious, limited and always looking into Singapore interest first.
