Empires do not die overnight. They die a slow death. Gradual accumulation of failures.

The British Empire that began in 1500s, at its peak was dubbed the empire where the sun never set, took 100 years and 2 world wars to finish it off.
The empire was too broke to even defend its Jewel in the Crown against invading Japs on bicycles.

The British pound sterling was once the World's Reserve Currency
After WW2, the victorious Allies gathered at Bretton Woods to settle on a new post-war World Reserve Currency. When the Brits proposed to revive the pound, the Americans laughed at them
Today, people dont give a hoot about the Brits

Some people are also beginning to give a hoot about the Americans
Take for example the Saudis who once only accepted dollars for their oil, are now accepting other currencies - a seemingly insignificant move but spelled the end of the "petrodollar"
Another example is the Houthis bold action against American military might. A seemingly insignificant move but spelled the end of the American military power invincibility
Yet another example is the unrestrained support for Israel's mass killing of innocent people in Palestine. Total failure as a peace-maker in the world's longest conflict. The end of American soft power

Trump is put there for a reason
The empire is overstretched to the tune of 35 TRILLION. War in Iraq cost 3 TRILLION. Afghanistan cost 2.5 TRILLION.
The interest on that alone is too many zeros for the average American to fathom, if only they understand the deep sheet they're in for the next few generations of debt to be paid off
And this debt is owed to the people all over the world in countries including Japan & China

There's UK too. UK is fast catching up on China in terms of US debt holdings while Japan and China have been holding less US debt for 2024 from 2023.
