Selling all is not a right move. Most old people I know are struggling to have their own home. They have been renting for many years. Two finally managed to get their home recently.
Rental prices had risen recently. They don’t like to share with others. Some struggle by the days. They have no saving. Another don’t even have her personal bank account.

From what I know and what I figure out, the house will keep them alive. Else, they will owe a lot of people money as they need to survive by the days.
Once a person drops to without a home, it takes at least 5 years for them to get back.

I think I read there is a PAP scheme where he can sell back to HDB and stay until he dead. Say his house still got 50 years lease, he can sell to HDB 30 years and 20 years kept for himself to stay.
I still think compassionate Ah Butt or FA who are web savvy can fix up a crowd funding site for him. This way he can save face if face is more important than survival as RiseinAsia pointed out. .....

He is 61 n might live till 90.
