The very reason why we have over 300k fw in sg. You go compute 300k x $700 for basic skill, is the levy collected each month... More than a decade ago we proposed for productivity improve in construction sector etc to speed up to meet the demand from foreign investment. But nothing much done cos the levy is just too damn attractive lah...

Ofc some minister will come out and say we can't get locals to so these jobs. They should try making the levy as part of the pay for the local guy and pay his CPF to get him into the sector. Also, with machines, you can get the local guy to work in the office while the machines 'sweat it out' on site.
