But fossil fueled-plants is not ideal. Best solution for China will be to have mass rollout of their 4th generation nuclear reactor that burns Thorium.
One advantage of such reactor is that it doesn't need water for cooling.
The other more reliable renewable energy source will be geothermal.
Sichuan is affected this round as I just read that hydropower makes up a staggering 80% of its energy source!
