KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Soldiers in a Ukrainian artillery battery on the front lines in the country’s east were only vaguely aware Wednesday of American election results pointing to Donald Trump’s victory. But they were firm in their hopes for the next president of the United States.

Poland continues to consider transferring the remainder of its MiG-29 fighter fleet to the Ukrainian Air Force. As Ukraine’s Air Force fleet remains largely composed of Soviet-origin aircraft. The bulk of aerial operations still relies on an increasingly limited number of MiG-29, Su-27, and Su-24 fighters, used in missions ranging from air cover, attack, and close air support, to the suppression of enemy air defenses.
Since start of the conflict, this fleet has been able to remain operational, partly thanks to the transfer of in-service or retired MiG-29 aircraft from Eastern European countries.

Institute for Study of War (ISW) reported on 1 Nov that 8,000 North Korean troops preparing for combat deployment in Russia’s Kursk Oblast represent approximately one week’s worth of Russian casualties across the entire frontline.
Russian forces are experiencing around 1,200 casualties daily, amounting to approximately 36,000 per month. North Korea is planning up to 100,000 more troops to help Putin.

US estimates indicate Russian monthly recruitment stands between 25,000 and 30,000 new soldiers, “meaning Russia is just shy of being able to replace its current rate of frontline losses at a 1:1 ratio,” ISW reports.

To Keep Ukraine’s Elite 47th Mechanized Brigade Fighting For 15 Months Straight, U.S. Sent More Than 300 M-2 Bradley Fighting Vehicles to brigade is finally getting a chance to rest and reset. Ukrainian forces can launched their much-heralded—and later much-maligned—southern counteroffensive in June 2023, the army’s 47th Mechanized Brigade was out in front, struggling through dense Russian minefields in its ex-Finnish Leopard 2R breaching vehicles, ex-European Leopard 2A6 tanks and ex-American M-2 infantry fighting vehicles. NATO-trained 47th Mechanized Brigade. In months of difficult attacks, it lost almost all of its Leopard 2Rs, several of its Leopard 2A6s and dozens of its M-2s—not to mention potentially hundreds of its 2,000 troopers.

But at least, the 47th Mechanized Brigade finally left the front line in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk Oblast and redeployed to relative safety of Pavlohrad, 60 miles west of Pokrovsk, the current locus of the Russian offensive in Donetsk. There, 47th Mechanized Brigade apparently inducting fresh troops repairing battle-damage dequipment —perhaps most critically—preparing to take delivery of fresh M-2s from the US. One of the Ukrainian army’s best brigades is getting more of its best vehicles.

Surely no coincidence around, same time 47th Mechanized Brigade finally departed the Pokrovsk front, U.S. govt announced a $250-million package of military aid for Ukraine includes an unspecified number of tracked, 33-ton M-2s, which carry up to 10 people—3 crew & seven infantry pack powerful 25-millimeter autocannons plus TOW anti-tank missiles & reactive armor blocks to boost their protection.

It’s unclear how many of the 1990s-vintage Bradleys are in the latest American aid package. Previous packages included, in total, around 300 of the multi-million-dollar IFVs. It wouldn’t be surprising if the recent aid includes dozens of M-2s. The Americans can certainly spare them: thousands of surplus U.S. Army Bradleys are in storage in the U.S.
