I don't think the crux of the matter is on whether VB should clarify immediately or not, since he doesn't even know the law well enough, nor bother to check, perhaps thinking that it's not such a big deal. If you want to be strict about it, then you might as well point the finger at Ah Shan why he didn't clarify at the first instance, since he's the law minister and should know the law well.

OK we can't do this neatly as there's element of hindsight here. But say I'm PS, and RK revealed to me that she lied. And then she shared further that she was the victim and there was no police case.

What I would do, I'm assuming it can be done, is that I will call for a private meeting with Parliament head, PM Lee and whoever else that is required. I will have RK there to admit that she lied about the police case but also informed that she was the victim then. Then see how to address it. Of course, RK must be comfortable to reveal to this bigger group (which is the strange part to me that she is now revealing to entire world, not just Singapore).

RK wanted to keep the secret about her own sexual assault, which her parents are not aware of.  But she had done a very silly thing to fabricate a story about a local girl being the victim of a sexual assault to the police.  In hindsight she should not have brought out the girl's sexual assault which is to cover her own sexual assault which had taken place in UK when she was 18-years-old...Now the lie had been manifested and she has no choice but to reveal the truth to all people and those around the world...

I don't think there is much damage done to SPF reputation. Maybe some effort in finding the case. Not so easy to damage reputation lah, it is all pap tactic. The truth must surface.

As for PS, may be he is an indecisive leader. Or may he really wanted RK to keep lying which makes him worse.

Just want to clarify that when I said trivial, I meant that whatever VB said did not really cause much damage, since no matter what, people have to (or forced to) use TT anyway. Whether it can really be used by by the SPF or not is immaterial.

Agreed. Lying in parliament is definitely a grave and serious matter. Something is not right with this RK. A normal MP will not lie in parliament. Even is she was really a rape victim, there is no need to lie. Just don't mention anything in parliament.

If she indeed lied again during COP, her only defence will be her mental problem and it will be reduced culpability for her.
