Dead bodies Russia returned as Ukrainian were actually Russian soldiers,

"Putin is afraid to admit how people have died. Be'cos if the moment comes when he needs to mobilize society will be very afraid," he remarks follow June 2 prisoner & body exchange agreement in Istanbul, the most extensive full-scale war. Under deal, Ukraine recovered 6,057 bodies of its fallen soldiers. Russia, to Kremlin aide Vladimir Medinsky, took back only 78, explaining the difference between the two numbers, Zelensky said bodies of the vast majority of Russian soldiers currently killed on battlefield remain in Russian hands. "They were advancing, & their dead remained in the territory where they were," he said.
According to president, exchanges of bodies, even severely wounded soldiers have taken place on battlefield, but such exchanges are typically not publicized. President Volodymyr Zelensky presents evidence to media in Kyiv, June 21, 2025, showing Putin's handed over dead bodies of million own soldiers kill. (Presidential Office) Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko confirmed a case of remains of Alexander Viktorovich Bugaev, a Russian soldier from 39th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade, were returned to Ukraine disguised as a Ukrainian dead casualty. "Shows how little human life means to Russia. Or maybe a way to avoid paying compensation to their families, they will have to pay anyway: we are returning these bodies," Klymenko said on June 19. Ukraine's Staff said on June 21. The Russian has sustained over 1,010,000 casualties killed & wounded — since launching full-scale invasion: Feb 2022.
Independent Russian outlet Mediazona, along with the BBC Russian Service, has verified the identities of 111,387 Russian soldiers killed, the rest emphasizing that actual number is likely much higher has continued to deny up scale of its losses, often inflating Ukrainian casualties and spreading false narratives. Zelensky warned part of a broader propaganda effort to "break reality in live," in which Russian forces are suffering far greater losses. June 2 negotiations in Istanbul led to most extensive prisoner & body exchange agreement, although no ceasefire was achieved. On June 7, Russia accused Kyiv of rejecting a proposed body return, releasing footage allegedly showed Ukrainian corpses stored in refrigeration units. Ukraine dismissed claims, saying footage was shot on Russian territory, not at a designated handover site. Kyiv has consistently called for an "all-for-all" exchange of prisoners of war, Moscow so far refused to agree to comprehensive swap. Ukraine's deep strikes cost Russia over $10 billion this year, Syrskyi says
President Volodymyr Zelensky and Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky present the first batch of Ukrainian-made Peklo (“Hell”) drone missiles.
Ukrainian strikes deep inside Russian territory between January and May have cost Russia over $10 billion, including $1.3 billion in direct damage to industrial facilities and infrastructure, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi told journalists on June 21. The indirect damage caused by the disruption of Russian industrial activities is estimated at $9.5 billion, putting the cost-to-result ratio of Ukrainian deep strikes at 1:15, Syrskyi said at a briefing attended by the Kyiv Independent.
Kyiv has ramped up drone attacks against Russian military and industrial sites far behind the border as part of its DeepStrike strategy, seeking to undermine Moscow's ability to wage war.
The attacks targeted Russia's oil refining sector, the fuel and lubricants facilities, energy and transport support, and strategic lines of communication.

Despite suffering over 1 million casualties, pounding Ukrainian cities nightly with missiles and drones, and committing countless war crimes, one startling fact about Russia's full-scale invasion remains — Moscow has yet to officially declare war on Ukraine. In February 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin described what he believed was going to be a swift victory and the capture of Kyiv within days as a "special military operation." Nearly 3-&-a-half years later, Kremlin is stuck with the term, caught in a quandary of own making — waging by what any measure is a war. What a f... call it one for fear of a domestic backlash. "Putin is a COWARD protected himself in this war, a direct effects of the war from the majority of the Russian population."

After degrading Russian air defense and surveillance capabilities in and around Crimea, the Ukrainians started using the Bayraktar drones again. The deadly Turkish-supplied drone, which gained reputation in the first months of the war is now back in action, destroying Russian vessels, and undermining Russian Black Sea operations.
Ukraine’s Turkish-made Bayraktar drones have returned to prominence, now in use for anti-naval operations in the Black Sea. Initially, these drones played a key role early in the war, when Russian air defense was sparse and unprepared. As Russia expanded its defensive measures to counter threats in the air, the Bayraktar’s relatively large radar signature made it vulnerable, prompting Ukraine to significantly reduce its use. Now, however, conditions have shifted. Ukraine, in cooperation with Turkey, now produces over 120 Bayraktars domestically a year, enhancing the possibilities of their deployment. Recent footage illustrates this comeback vividly, with Bayraktar drones destroying multiple Russian vessels near the Tendrivska Gulf Spit as enemy forces attempted to disembark soldiers onto strategically important islands.

U S. president Donald Trump’s special envoy has accused Russia of “stalling for time” while bombing civilians across Ukraine. Keith Kellogg said Moscow’s claim that the slow pace of talks was down to the US and Ukraine was “Orwellian” and “unfounded”. Russia cannot continue to stall for time while it bombs civilian targets in Ukraine,” Mr Kellogg said. “We urge an immediate ceasefire and a move to trilateral talks to end the war.”
Moscow rejected the claim, saying it was “naturally in favour of achieving the goals that we are trying to achieve through the special military operation via political and diplomatic means.”
Meanwhile, Russia has claimed that its forces have occupied the whole of illegally-annexed Luhansk in eastern Ukraine. Leonid Pasechnik, the Moscow-installed leader of the occupied region, said he received a report “two days ago” saying that “100 per cent of the region was now under the control of Russian forces”. Kyiv has yet to comment on the claim.

"When Putin speaks of peace today, it is pure mockery," said Germany’s foreign minister Johann Wadephul, speaking at a news conference with Ukrainian foreign minister Andrii Sybiha.
"His apparent readiness to negotiate is only a facade so far,” Mr Wadephul said. He also announced that Berlin aims to help Ukraine manufacture more weapons more quickly at a time Kyiv is looking to strengthen its negotiating position in peace talks with Russia. "We see our task as helping Ukraine so that it can negotiate more strongly," he said.
