I went to Jeju once before and personally found the experience to be underwhelming.
Very touristy and the natural landscape is nothing to shout for compared to many East Asian countries. The prices are also way too high at almost Japan level without the accompanied good hospitality expected.
The younger Koreans and PRC Chinese working there are mostly decent though not spectacular, the middle aged and older Korean service staff are mostly rude and coarse.
I suspect most of the tourists are there solely because of a general hype over Korean pop culture.
