US says it will run out of funds for Ukraine this month.

U.S. will run out of funding for Ukraine this month if Congress does not act to pass President Joe Biden’s emergency supplemental spending request has been stalled for weeks on Capitol Hill, a top U.S. official said Monday.

Biden admin plans to announce one more last package of military aid to Ukraine this month, National Security Council John Kirby told reporters on Monday. After that, funding for Ukraine will dry up, he said. "When that one is done … we will have no more replenishment authority available to us. And we’re going to need Congress to act without delay,” Kirby said.

The Pentagon still has $4.4 billion in presidential drawdown authority to provide weapons to Ukraine directly from Defense Dept inventory, according to Pentagon spokesperson Lt. Col. Garron Garn. But weapons DOD transfer are limited by necessary funding to replenish U.S. stockpiles, and that’s what is almost gone.

Sunday, Pentagon Comptroller urged Congress in a letter to act on president’s roughly $111 bil supplemental  been bogged down on Capitol Hill as lawmakers debate tying request to deal on border security. “It is essential Congress act without delay on the Admin’s pending supplemental request.

Doing so is in our clear national interest to assistance is vitally needed so Ukraine can continue to fight for freedom,” McCord wrote in the letter.  Bloomberg first reported McCord’s letter, which POLITICO also later obtained.

The deployment of the upgraded Bohdana 2.0, a 155mm self-propelled howitzer equipped with a redesigned cabin of Varta APC, by the 57th separate motorized infantry brigade.

Ukraine's recent advancements in military capabilities, particularly in artillery, are evident. This is part of Ukraine’s initiative to update and strengthen its artillery in response to the decrease in the delivery of artillery systems to Ukraine from European allies and the United States.

Zelenski particularly noted a slowdown in the supplies of 155mm artillery shells. He mentioned that U.S. had not formally stated they would stop or decrease the flow of artillery shells to Ukraine, but rather there was a general scramble for stockpiles by everyone involved.

Zelenski acknowledged this situation as a reality they must deal with, emphasizing need for Ukraine to defend what's theirs despite these challenges, including potential end of US military aid. The current emphasis on domestic production of artillery systems and ammunition has therefore become an essential aspect of Ukraine's defence strategy.

Faced with current conflict between Israel and Hamas, and need to lessen dependence on foreign supplies, Ukraine has been concentrating on developing its artillery capabilities, includes creating new systems and maintaining existing ones, with support from international partners.

One of Ukraine's significant achievements in locally-made artillery development is the new Bohdana 2.0 155mm self-propelled artillery system. It combines firepower with mobility and is equipped with a 155 mm/52 caliber gun system, designed for long-range engagements and rapid deployment.

This shift all reflects Ukraine's move from Soviet-era ammunition calibers (122mm and 152mm) to NATO-standard 155mm calibers, influenced in part by the supply of similar caliber artillery systems from Western nations, but also the need for a modern self-propelled howitzer produced locally.

Ukraine reportedly destroys 'indestructible' Russian Kinzhal missile with US Patriot air defense missile.

Kyiv, Ukraine, December 18, 2023 - The Ukrainian Air Force announced on December 14, 2023, the successful interception of a Russian Kh-47 Kinzhal hypersonic air-launched ballistic missile. The missile, aimed at the city of Kyiv, was reportedly neutralized by an American-supplied Patriot missile system, a notable achievement given the Kinzhal's reputation as a nearly un-interceptable weapon due to its high-speed capabilities. Tallinn ready to strike deal with Kyiv on mobilizing Ukrainian men staying in Estonia

Tallinn ready to strike deal with Kyiv on mobilizing Ukrainian men. Estonia is ready to help Ukraine in mobilizing its citizens if the two countries sign a corresponding agreement.
That’s according to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Lauri Läänemets, Ukrinform reports.

According to the official, about 7,500 Ukrainian citizens of conscription age currently stay in Estonia, many of them are exempt from mobilization.  example, military draft does not apply to citizens who live abroad permanently, but it does to those who came to Estonia after February 24, 2022, and currently reside there under a temporary residence permit.

Läänemets noted that, according to international law, Ukraine cannot mobilize Ukrainians living in Estonia, as an agreement between states is required to this end.

Ukrainian authorities that, if they intend to conscript Ukrainian citizens living in Estonia, the latter is ready to conclude the relevant agreement with Ukraine. "Estonia will not stand aside. We are happy to conclude such an agreement and help Ukraine. We have an idea of where these people live in Estonia. We are ready to help transfer these individuals from Estonia to Ukraine if required," the minister added.

Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of National Security and Defense Council, believes Ukraine should recruit more soldiers but this does not mean that the additional mobilization of 450,000-500,000 citizens should take place within a month or two.

Ukraine’s Patriot air defense systems, they have shot down 10 Russian aircraft wahh?, including three (3) Su-34 fighter-bombers in a recent operation (this, I believe.) Military expert and Ukrainian Armed Forces reserve officer Andriy Kramarov commented on the "seasonal migration" of the systems in an interview with Radio NV on Dec. 23.

Although there is no official confirmation from the Ukrainian military, "Ukraine has Patriot systems, and they can appear anywhere out of nowhere,” Kramarov said.

Some more---->"Western experts say that this is the tenth Russian plane shot down by the Patriot system. I would like to note that this is the first time that an aircraft, not a missile, has been shot down by Patriot system in a real combat zone, it is in our war, it's proving itself. This is a MIM-104 missile with a range of up to 155 kilometers.

Avdiivka, a key Ukrainian stronghold in eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region, seems to be stalling out, indications Ukrainians have deployed their new drone and counter-drone strategy: targeting  radio-jammers, using drones while setting up their own jammers to ground Russian drones.

“The advantage in electronic warfare seems to be holding in this sector,” analyst Donald Hill wrote in fellow analyst Tom Cooper’s newsletter. “The number of Ukrainian drone attacks have increased. A lot. The number of Russian drone attacks have decreased by the same amount.”
That’s encouraging for free Ukraine as the winter deepens and Russia launches its traditional cold-weather attacks in several sectors of the 600-mile front line.

Avdiivka is locus of these winter assaults. After failing to capture the city’s ruins with vehicular attacks and then also failing with infantry attacks that cost them 17,000 casualties, the Russians pivoted to an aerial assault—sending explosive first-person-view drones, some outfitted for night flights, to harry Ukrainian supply lines in the hope of strangling the garrison and forcing it to withdraw. The Ukrainians are grounding the drones before they can attack, and also preventing the Russians from grounding Ukrainian drones, means the Ukrainians’ supply lines might stay open—and the Russians’ supply lines might fray.

“There is no telling how long Ukraine will have this advantage, but it’s currently saving Ukrainian lives,” Hill wrote.

Dangers Of Off-The-Shelf FPV Technology
Standard radio control can be enhanced with a transmitter that conveniently plugs into its back. Case of this transmitter is crafted using traditional 3D printing techniques. Although multiple methods exist to create such a device, it probably incorporates STM32 microcontroller,
STM32 microcontroller is a standard component in electronic devices made by Switzerland-based company. The one drawback of Magic Radio, the physicist remarks, is that including a remarkably luminous LED proves advantageous for Ukrainian snipers.

Hermes group has set up a pick-and-place Chinese-made machine, Neoden 10, that costs US$30,000. Shared on Telegram channel, this indicates that hundreds of boards are already being made per month. These boards exhibit a high level of simplicity, components utilized are readily accessible, inexpensive & commonly found. Upon inspection, an auto-router with standard configurations was employed to create traces, the firmware being used by Russians is proprietary, yet it uncomplicated. The Russians had made their FPVs more potent by equipping them with heat-detecting night vision to carry out strikes in darkness. This gave them an upper hand against the Ukrainians.

FPV drones commonly used for recreational, videography, and live-streaming events, can also carry payloads & maneuver swiftly. Some models can reach speeds exceeding 100 km/h.

In the Russian-Ukrainian war, FPV drones are utilized as high-speed quadcopters for surveillance, observation, ammunition delivery, and even as kamikazes by attaching combat payloads. In the hands of skilled operators, these drones become exact weapons.

The Ukrainian forces have actively incorporated FPV drones into various divisions since the initial phase of the full-scale invasion. These divisions include the Armed Forces, Security Service of Ukraine, Border Guards, National Guard, and Defense Intelligence operatives.

Regularly, they release footage captured by these drones. For example, the 72nd separate mechanized brigade, known as the Black Zaporozhians, recently utilized these drones to successfully destroy a heavy flamethrower system called Solntsepyok, estimated to be worth US$15 million.

Asked to Putin Miscalculated, is U.S. F-16s, is not only a Self-inflicted, it also going to petrol over Ukraine blue sky.

Any Day Now, Ukraine Will Finally Get F-16s. As Ukrainian president Zelensky said thanked to Dutch govt “for its decision to start preparing the initial 18 F-16 jets for their delivery to Ukraine.”

Dutch defense ministry stressed F-16s shipping until all paperwork was in order and Ukrainian defense ministry had suitable air bases and enough trained personnel. Ukrainian pilots had been in Romania learning to fly the nimble F-16. There is no reason Ukraine’s first batch of F-16s won’t begin to arrive within weeks, if not days.

Netherlands, Denmark and Norway all has pledged their surplus F-16s possible to Ukraine the country could get 60 of the single-engine, single-seat, supersonic fighters to bolster existing to the much less sophisticated—MiG and Sukhoi fighters.

First 18 F-16s—out of 42 Dutch air force could make available in the comlng day or so—have been “improved,” Yuriy Ignat, a Ukrainian air force spokesperson, told Ukrainian media.
(It’s true: F-16A/B Mid-Life Updates, or MLUs, are improved compared to the original F-16 from the early 1980s.) >》But don’t expect Ukrainian planes to get latest improvements that, say, LIKE THOSE U.S. Air Force is adding to its own F-16s.

Israeli air strike in Syria kills senior Iranian Revolutionary Guards member. sources told Reuters that the adviser, known as Sayyed Razi Mousavi, was responsible for coordinating the military alliance between Syria and Iran.

Iran's state television interrupted its regular news broadcast to announce that Mousavi had been killed, describing him as one of the Guards' oldest advisers in Syria.

It said he had been "among those accompanying Qassem Soleimani", the head of the Guards' elite Quds Force who was killed in a US drone attack in Iraq in 2020.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said the assassination of Mousavi showed weakness on the part of Israel. "This act is a sign of the Zionist regime's frustration and weakness in the region for which it will certainly pay the price," Iranian media cited Raisi as saying.

The Revolutionary Guards said Israel would suffer for killing Mousavi, who held the Guards' rank of brigadier-general.

The dam was about 30 m (98 ft) tall and 3.2 km (2 mi) long, the breached segment was about 85 m (279 ft) long.[10] 2-days after the breach, the average level of flooding in Kherson region was 5.61 m (18.4 ft), according to local officials.

There were signs of an explosion at the time of the breach. Both Ukrainian and Russian sources reported hearing blasts from dam's hydroelectric power station regional seismometers detected explosions in area and a satellite detected the infrared heat signature of an explosion.

Water levels in Kakhovka Reservoir, controlled by Russia, had been rising for months were at a 30-yr high when dam failed, thousands of residents downstream were evacuated, floods submerged several villages in Ukrainian & Russian-controlled areas. By 21 June, 58 people were reported to have been killed and 31 were missing. Flooding killed many animals and damaged farmland, homes, businesses, & infrastructure.
