Kamala Harris delivers forceful speech to close out DNC and accept 2024 nomination.

Vice President Kamala Harris formally accepted the Democratic Party's presidential nomination in Chicago on Thursday, delivering a forceful speech that laid out her vision for the country warning about possibility of former President Donald Trump returning to White House. Capping off the 4th final day of Democratic National Convention, Harris recited her life story background b4 directly taking on Trump & laying out her position several hot-button issues, like war in Gaza, immigration, abortion and more.

"I promise to be a president for all Americans. You can always trust to put country above party & self, to hold sacred America's fundamental principles, from rule of law, to free & fair elections, peaceful transfer of power," she said. She called Trump an "unserious man," but said "the consequences of putting him back in White House are extremely serious.""Imagine Trump with no guardrails, how he would use immense powers of presidency of US — not to improve your life, not to strengthen our national security — but to serve only client he has ever had: himself," she said.

Trump blasts Harris as part of Truth Social flurry on what she 'didn't mention' in DNC speech
Trump and Harris will square off in a debate on September 10. CHICAGO – Former President Donald Trump, as part of a live thread on Truth Social, blasted the Democratic National Convention speech of Vice President Kamala Harris in a variety of posts including one after she concluded talking about what she "didn't mention."
She didn’t mention China, she didn’t mention fracking, she didn’t mention Energy, she didn’t mention, meaningfully, Russia and Ukraine, she didn’t mention the big subjects of the day, that are destroying our Country," Trump posted on Truth Social shortly after Harris' speech concluded.

The former president posted several criticisms of Harris during the speech on several issues.

"There are 60 million people in poverty in the U.S., under their watch, and she doesn’t even talk about them!" Trump posted.

Millions of people across the U.S. and world listened keenly on Thursday to Vice President Kamala Harris, as she spoke on perhaps the biggest stage of her presidential campaign that began just a month ago. But perhaps no one was as glued to the speech capping the Democratic National Convention in Chicago as Harris’ Republican opponent, Donald Trump, who offered his blow-by-blow live reaction on social media and instant reaction on TV.

“IS SHE TALKING ABOUT ME?” the former President posted on his platform Truth Social, as Harris warned of the dangers of another Trump presidency, accusing him of election fraud and inciting the violence at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021

Trump struggles to keep media spotlight in battle with Harris, updated 2 hours ago. Republican p?former U.S. President Donald Trump speaks at a rally in Glendale, Arizona, U.S. noted:
Nov. 5 election. He rather or his frequent personal attacks against Vice President Harris' looks, Black & Indian heritage intelligence, warning they could turn off the moderate voters he needs to win?.

At an event in Arizona later, the former president repeated his tax pledge, while promising to set up a commission to investigate presidential assassination attempts. He also said he would install a panel to investigate "an increase in chronic health problems and childhood diseases."

Both proposals are apparent concessions to independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who endorsed Trump at the event after dropping out of the race.

Trump's comments come one day after Harris accepted the Democratic Party's presidential nomination with a muscular speech that laid down broad foreign policy principles and sharp contrasts with Trump with 11 weeks left until Election Day.

Trump sought to counter-program the four-day convention with events of his own around the country, hoping to steal some media attention from Harris. However, his speeches on foreign policy, the economy and crime did little to dislodge the spotlight from Harris and received little attention - a stunning turnabout for a politician used to dominating headlines.

Republican his aides hope Thursday's boisterous convention finale marks end of the honeymoon period for Harris, as Democratic candidate after Joe Biden exited race & endorsed her. Trump attacked her with dozens of posts on his Truth Social platform, calling her a liar, a Marxist and "Comrade Kamala Harris." One post simply asked: "IS SHE TALKING ABOUT ME?"

William Rosenberg, a political science professor at Drexel University, said Trump's personal attacks on Harris underscored his frustration with having to face a biracial woman, a task complicated by his history of making racist remarks."His anger his words speak volumes," Rosenberg said. "He's navigating a path which is full of problems for him." Harris polling aggregator website on FiveThirtyEight putting her ahead of Trump in 6 of 7 battleground states, outraising her Republican counterpart. Her campaign told the Federal Election Commission this week she raised $204 million, compared to $48 million reported to the body by Trump's main fundraising group.

A question still to be answered is whether Harris will also outpace Trump on trail coming weeks.  easing pressure on Trump to travel more around the country. That may now change with Harris, 59.
Trump, 78, will travel to Detroit on Monday to address a conference National Guard Association of US scheduled to give a speech at conservative women's group's annual summit in Washington on Friday.Campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said Trump would hold at least one additional campaign stop between those two events, without providing details.

Trump tries to reset his campaign after brutal month. Trump’s prospects of winning in November are nowhere near as bright as they once were. Donald Trump finally recognizing he’s at risk of losing November election unless he makes some changes.
Former president’s campaign advisers try reached out to people who are allies of both Trump and Brian Kemp, governor of Georgia he was publicly attacking just weeks ago, to smooth things over between 2 Republicans.

Trump’s advisers, meanwhile, have privately strategizing about how to broaden his appeal with voters, shore up support among top allies. They convened a stakeholders call last week with samll group of influential Trump supporters and unofficial advisers to provide an update on the election.

Privately, Trump suggested he understand, he could lose in November if he does not dramatically change his approach to the race, according to a person with knowledge of his thinking who was granted anonymity to discuss the situation.

Trump’s prospects reclaiming White House are nowhere near or bright, just over a mth to go, he & Republicans were celebrating at their convention in Milwaukee, had survived earlier an assassination on him & as an a  popular then Biden. he was remain the only one in the race, many in the GOP believed a Trump win was inevitable. With Joe Biden later pass baton to Harris’ glistening poll numbers show positive news coverage of her candidacy, Trump & his team are fretting. His allies have blanketing airwaves calling for him to stop his obsession over crowd sizes personal attacks on Harris & focus instead on policy and the vice president’s record.

Trump threatens to pull out of Harris debate, hot mics an issue. WASHINGTON: The campaigns of Donald Trump and Kamala Harris clashed on Monday (Aug 26) over next month's US presidential debate, with the vice president's team seeking a return to open microphones while her Republican rival threatened to pull out entirely, suggesting the previously agreed-upon ABC network was biased.

"Why would I do the Debate against Kamala Harris on that network?" Trump, who is making his third bid for the White House, wrote in a social media post late Sunday night that also accused the network of bias. "Stay tuned!!!"

"The vice president is ready to deal with Trump’s constant lies and interruptions in real-time. Trump should stop hiding behind the mute button," Fallon said in a statement.

What's happening on campaign trail today
Vice President Kamala Harris & her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, held their first sit-down interview since start of their campaign on CNN. Harris defended her economic policies, including those of the Biden administration, but promised to do more to improve affordability for middle-class Americans and to appoint a Republican to her Cabinet if she's elected.

Former President Donald Trump said in an interview with NBC News before his rally in Potterville, Michigan, that he would protect access to IVF treatments if elected.

Harris held a rally in Savannah, capping a two-day bus tour of southeastern Georgia. While she sees an opening in battleground state, Trump working hard to put it back in GOP column, even repairing his long-standing feud with the state's popular Republican governor.

Both running mates also hit the campaign trail. Walz spoke in Raleigh, North Carolina, while Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance addressed a convention of first responders in Boston, where he drew a mix of cheers & boos.

Trump to vote against Florida abortion measure after backlash. Donald Trump has said he will vote against a ballot measure in his home state of Florida that would protect abortion rights after facing backlash from conservative supporters.
The former president's announcement came one day after an NBC News interview in which he appeared to support the measure - a statement that caused anti-abortion activists to openly criticise him.

On Friday, Trump told Fox News that he still thinks Florida's ban on abortions after six weeks is too strict. However he said would still vote "no" on a measure that would amend the state's constitution to protect abortion rights.

"You need more time than six weeks," Trump said. "I’ve disagreed with that right from the early primaries when I heard about it." He then falsely alleged that Democrats in the US supported allowing abortions at any point during a pregnancy, which he used as his explanation for deciding to vote against the ballot measure in Florida as a voter in the state.

Vice President Kamala Harris & former President Donald Trump each campaigned in battleground states taking their message to swing voters in the closing months of the race. Reproductive rights remain a central issue, with Harris slamming Trump on Friday for his opposition to a Florida abortion amendment. Trump’s back--forth on that amendment related issues this week illustrated the political challenge abortion is posing for the Republican nominee.

Harris & Trump traded attacks Saturday over the former president’s controversial visit to Arlington National Cemetery this week. Harris blasted Trump, saying GOP standard-bearer “is unable to comprehend anything other than service to himself.” Trump, who faces criticism over rules prohibiting political activity on the sacred grounds, shared videos of parents of fallen US service members criticizing Harris.

ere’s the latest on the 2024 race.
Access to fertility treatments emerged on Friday as a flashpoint in White House campaigns of Vice President Kamala Harris & former President Donald J. Trump as they entered Labor Day weekend, traditionally a start of the homestretch of America’s election calendar.

Democrats accused Mr. Trump of trying to distract from his role in helping to overturn Roe v. Wade in 2022 with his proposal to require insurance companies or the federal government to pay for all costs associated with in vitro fertilization treatments.

Mr. Trump — who is struggling for women’s votes, according to polls — floated the plan during campaign stops on Thursday in Michigan and Wisconsin, though he offered few details.

The Harris campaign challenged Mr. Trump’s credibility on the issue of I.V.F., saying that the Republican Party’s official platform includes language that suggests that fertilized eggs should have personhood rights under the 14th Amendment of the Constitution. The campaign said that it would embark on a bus tour to draw attention to Mr. Trump’s record on reproductive rights.

Senator Democrat of Massachusetts, speaking on a Zoom call on Friday organized by Harris campaign, said Mr. Trump’s overture to sway women voters was “smoke *& mirrors.” “he thinks women are stupid & we can be gaslighted,” she said. Senator JD Vance of Ohio, Mr. Trump’s running mate, dismissed questions on Friday about whether conservative courts and lawmakers could use the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe. to try to restrict access to in vitro fertilization treatments. “It’s such a ridiculous hypothetical,” he told CNN.

Mr. Trump held a rally on Friday in Johnstown, Pa., and is now addressing an event in Washington held by Moms for Liberty, a right-wing group founded during the coronavirus pandemic to combat what its leaders call a left-wing drift of public schools.
Here’s what else to know:
Abortion rights in Florida: Mr. Trump said on Friday that he would vote against a ballot measure that would expand abortion rights in his adopted state of Florida, clarifying his stance after suggesting on Thursday that he might support it. Swifties for Harris: After Mr. Trump falsely claimed to have the endorsement of Taylor Swift last week, using images created by artificial intelligence, her fans gathered this week to support Ms. Harris. About 34,000 people participated in a call on Tuesday, including some high-profile cultural and political figures.

Praise for Biden: In her CNN interview on Thursday, Ms. Harris lavished compliments on the president and stood by her spirited defense of him after his disastrous debate performance in June. On Thursday, she enumerated Mr. Biden’s accomplishments and praised his “judgment and disposition,” calling him “quite selfless” and saying he “puts the American people first.”
Walz along for the ride: Republicans criticized Ms. Harris for bringing Mr. Walz to the interview, suggesting that she lacked the confidence to do a one-on-one interview. But the governor seemed to play a marginal role, with the interviewer, Dana Bash, ignoring him for long stretches, leaving him to nod along to Ms. Harris’s comments. He accomplished at least one goal: Don’t overshadow your running mate.

Trump just spoke admiringly about conservative parent activists who have become active in school board politics nationwide around gender issues, sometimes disrupting meetings. While he is not speaking tonight in a detailed way about his policy proposals, his campaign has promised to defund schools that recognize transgender identities. He just said American children are going to school & coming home a few days later with a new gender. He spoke against transgender athletes and falsely claimed that an Olympic boxer underwent a gender transition, frequently brings up transgender athletes on trail, making jokes doing impressions that get big laughs at his rallies. His promise to keep transgender women from competing in women’s sports have become a standard part of his stump speech and consistently draws some of the loudest applause from his rally audiences

He!. Trump is in Washington, where he is about to participate in a “fireside chat” with Tiffany Justice, a founder of the right-wing activist group Moms for Liberty. Their conversation is likely to focus heavily on gender issues in schools and adolescent health care. The talk is being introduced by Representative Byron Donalds of Florida, who is a big supporter of private school vouchers, another Trump priority.
Aug. 30, 2024, says he’ll vote against Florida’s abortion rights measure after conservative backlash and speaking from behind a lectern adorned with a Trump-Vance campaign sign. He is in a large arena, filled with people.

“I’ll be voting no,” Mr. Trump told Fox News, even as he said he disagreed with his home state’s current ban on abortions after six weeks of pregnancy.

With boost from grieving families, Trump sharpens attacks on Harris

The former president’s campaign aimed to turn the controversy over his actions at Arlington National Cemetery into an attack on the Biden administration’s handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal. Late Saturday, the Trump campaign posted numerous videos in which family members of some of the 13 U.S. troops killed during a suicide bombing in the 2021 evacuation of Afghanistan accused President Joe Biden and Harris of killing their children by placing them in harm’s way. The bombing — which also killed about 170 Afghans — marked a low point for the Biden administration and has continued to haunt it politically as some of the families have aligned with Trump.

Where the race between Trump and Harris stands on Labor Day, according to our polling expert
A race that Kamala Harris leads nationally is the equivalent of a knife fight in a phone booth, and it’s set to be decided in a smaller-than-usual number of states. Labor Day is a critical mile-marker on the road to the general election, and Kamala Harris has reached it with a slim advantage over Donald Trump. But the former president would still be well within striking distance if the election were held today.

Because of Republicans’ advantage in the Electoral College, a race that Harris leads nationally by between 2 and 4 percentage points, on average, is the equivalent of a knife fight in a phone booth, and it’s set to be decided in a smaller-than-usual number of states. Polls are extraordinarily tight in all of them, and that isn’t expected to change much over the next nine weeks. In modern presidential elections, where the race stands on Labor Day is usually pretty close to where it ends up once the votes are counted.

Of seven states, both campaigns have identified as the core Electoral College battlegrounds, Harris leads Trump in three of them — the “Blue Wall” states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin — according to multiple polling averages. But those leads are small: In only one state, Wisconsin, does an average show a greater than 3-point margin for the vice president.

In 3 others — Arizona, Georgia and Nevada — polls are so close & different polling averages have different leaders as of Sunday night.

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign held a string of Labor Day-themed events in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania on Monday, marking the unofficial launch of the fall campaign sprint in the states that will determine the Nov election.
Events come as Harris seeks to extend her momentum over the next two months. While the Democratic presidential nominee has sought to expand the map of states where she is competitive, Labor Day stops point importance of winning those three “blue wall” states that propelled President Joe Biden to victory in 2020.

Biden joined Harris for a rally in Pittsburgh on Monday evening, the president’s first joint campaign appearance with the vice president since ending his reelection bid and endorsing her.
