DPLA, armed wing of Danu People’s Liberation Front State Fighting Myanmar’s junta & has suffered heavy casualties in Nawnghkio and Lawksawk townships, Shan State, according to armed groups. Regime troops have been fighting the Danu People’s Liberation Army (DPLA) around Kyaukku village tract in Lawksawk, southern Shan State, since November 30.
DPLA, the armed wing of the Danu People’s Liberation Front which was founded in 2022, attacked junta reinforcements from Infantry Battalion 292 and Artillery Battalion 349 in Lawksawk Township.
At least 34 junta troops have been killed in 10 days of fighting in Kyaukku, said DPLA spokesman Ko Ah Mong.“Fighting has stopped but tensions remain high while there are battles in Tawnghkam,” he added.The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and its allies have been fighting the regime around Bantbwe and Om Thee villages in Nawnghkio Township, northern Shan State, since December 2.Tawnghkam is strategically important as the junction between northern & southern Shan State, leaving junta hubs like Pyin Oo Lwin and Mandalay city vulnerable to attack.
TNLA sources said the regime is strongly defending the area with repeated shelling around Bantbwe and Om Thee villages.
