Actually last time China is democratic country  comprising of several different political parties.It was first led by the republican. But there was a revolt of the communist party and the Republican all fled to tTaiwan and become the now Taiwanese.

Cannot say is entire correct. Mainly the y elite and educated choose national assembly.

but then even in Us.A then, female, minority race and less educated are forbid to vote. 
today view people may feel it authorian, but then is already democratic.
