Vietnam a communist country, adopts a zero covid strategy and was very effective at the start. It’s measures are as harsh as China but it’s helpless against delta variant once the border is penetrated. So very strict border control is needed to contain delta.

For singapore, the highly transmissible delta has already penetrated singapore borders like Vietnam, it’s hard to revert back to zero covid if the border controls weren’t harsh originally. There is no easy reversing once delta is in.

There are still easy levers for them to slow the cases by killing off dining as per the previous rounds.
