For my mom she is old so she always wear. People can die from covid especially the old

It’s good that you’d made it a point to wear a mask when you got on board the train. An enclosed space, esp an air-conditioned room, is a fertile ground for the transmission of viruses. You should also be commended for being concerned for your mom’s safety.

The statistics show that elderly people were likely to be more severely affected than younger persons. Only a tiny fraction of cases wound up in the ICU, and they were mostly the elderly who were more susceptible to bad outcomes.
 
My bosom buddy’s grandfather, a nonagenarian, contracted covid last Oct and breathed his last some three weeks later. One of his three maids had an outing a week earlier and, unbeknown to the household, brought home the virus after being infected with it.
 
The cause of his death is listed in the hospital summary discharge as ‘primary pneumonia’ though he also suffered from a weak heart and other ailments like diabetes. Apparently, covid was the spark that ignited other complications which he succumbed to.
