I remember President Tharman making a call 4 years ago for employers in the privatesector to change their mindsets on the hiring and management of mature workers is timely. Unfortunately, the public service, despite being the largest employer in S'pore with 146,000 officers in 16 ministries and more than 50 statutory boards, is not taking the lead in hiring older workers. The call by the Govt for businesses to hire older S'poreans sounds hollow.
