Only the Chinese government dares to do this, since it cannot be 'unelected' by its people. But so far, it has been doing the right things. The next thing to do is to clamp down the entertainment circles. Too much bad behavior from actors and actresses.

I tend not to disagree with what you said although I lost money due to this.

Game addiction is a serious problem among the young...

It is quite bad in Singapore but extreme in China fir some reason.

Still there have be certain things to keep people occupied.

Otherwise, many will be bored to death by staring at the four silent walls and the dull ceiling.

Govt cannot go all the way with business.

Hope SG Govt can be like China, look into Ceca policies and labour laws.

Not gloating or anything, but I have been saying (maybe not enough in this forum)...don't touch China stocks for now. Prices are still 20-30% above the levels 18 months ago.

If they are shut down, then losses will be 100%. This may just be a hint to let investors get out alive.

Any stock can go bankrupt break the law and get shutdown or have accounting fraud.

This risk is part of investing....so one always have to manage the risk.

Looking the way tuition play out, gaming will very likely be targeted soon. While govt may not force it to be non profit, Tencent immediately come out with slew of actions which will affect their bottomline. Netease will be adversely affected. U shd consider cutting some netease now to ease some further pain dude.

I don't think the China govt is so stupid.

If game addiction is not there drug addiction, gambling addiction and alcohol addiction will take its place

Game addiction is unhealthy but better than the rest. Its just cat and mouse game to keep everyone on good behaviour

All the vice u mention is already there and they did clean up, compare few yrs back vice and now in China u know the vast crackdown.

Gaming is close to the objective of clamp down tuition where it’s about the future of Prc’s children. Suspect more harsh actions on this educating area since this is their priority.

Tencent within a day implement restriction to kids to one hr gaming and some other measures, there are long term impact to profits

“Assumption” on the impact to industry valuation:
tuition falls 100%
Gaming fall mid range 40-60%
General tech/ data falls 30-40%

Game addiction is a serious problem in China especially among youngsters. Parents are known to send their kids to military like camps to cure their kids from this addiction.

It is a good move by the Chinese government to clamp down on industries that propagate addictive softwares. Money is one thing but the mental health of future generations is more important to the country......... Rolleyes

I think they are doing this not because they cannot be unelected but they have the support of the people for this move.

It's like back in LKY's days when Singapore "acquired" private land for HDB etc. The landowners dare not go against it because the majority supported the policy.
