387k Singaporeans unable to meet basic needs of food, shelter, clothing & essential
#1

"Singapore does not have an official poverty line.

However researchers estimate that some 387,000 Singaporeans are unable to meet basic needs in the form of food, shelter, clothing and other essential expenditures.

That means that more than 1 in 10 Singaporeans is living in poverty."

The Singaporean here refer to citizen only or plus pr?

If plus pr, then what's the number for citizen only

1. I have served the nation in a combat unit for 2.5 + 10 years. I had fulfilled my duty as a citizen, but has the country do it's part for me?
2. I don't know where the threat of CCP is, but I know the threat of CECA is already at my doorsteps
3. I had been called a CCP, JHK, Pinoy, but they never called me a CECA..

At the same time, Singapore has one of the highest per capita incomes in the world. Inequality is a major issue.

Low-income workers account for approximately 60% of all Singaporeans living in poverty. They simply do not earn enough to make ends meet. The unemployed/underemployed and the elderly, particularly older women, also face higher rates of poverty.

The above figures do not include migrant workers, who make up about 30% of the population. Foreign workers are more likely to be in poverty as a result of debts incurred to work here, low wages and exploitation."

Fake news la.

The reason that S'pore does not have an official poverty line is because our leaders modus operandi has always been to hide the less rosy aspects of our country to the outside world. Of course there will be lots of citizens left behind in the rat race in the most expensive city in the world.

I thought PRs have a 4 or 5 year renewal of their status. This would mean half of the PRs will be Foreigners and left Singapore by then.

.In 2017,  News of MOM reported 450,000 pensioners aged 65yo and above collecting CPF payout of average S$350 per month..

Those were not included in recent poverty survey.
Showing S$350/month is far below NTU researchers finding of S$1,750.00 poverty trash hold.

Survey questions can be biased in a variety of ways. This includes leading the respondents, loading questions with meaning, including multiple questions in a single entry, phrasing questions in a less than clear way as well as providing limited response options. All of the above may affect the reliability of the results.

The other day, one Sexchange (flg) in this forum just made derogatory remarks about some Chinese in China cannot afford to eat meat.

I told him in this forum that he should see poverty in Singapore first.

This thread is proof to him to look at Singapore first.

Humbled to learn that in Australia, "One in six children (16.6%) live in poverty. That amounts to 761,000
children". Quite shocking, considering it has vast almost limitless resources

If a sample survey on car ownership is conducted at Bukit Timah, Holland Road and Tanglin, the conclusion may be that 90% of S'poreans own 1 or more cars. LOL!
