They will not get my vote in the next GE. It’s a double whammy. Already increases in utilities, costs of food , medical and transportation. On top of that you will be paying taxes for the already increase of basic costs.

tomorrow will be a better day

B4 Water rates hike

$100 @ ,7% GST = $7.00

After 30% increased 1 July 2017

$130 @ 7%GST = $9.10

Next hike to ,9% GST
$130 @ 9% GST = $11.70

Same water usage since 2017
You paid $4.70 GST more = 67.14% GST

People are so happy to collect vouchers of $100 but fail to realize they will be paying more for the goods and services.

Ask garment no need to give GST vouchers anymore, no use one, just exempt all the essential goods from GST will do…but will they do that? Confused

Unfortunately, PM Lee has not yet spoken @ UN Assembly as to why Singapore GST was good for low income earners in 1 April 1994,?

Other countries can learn from Singapore.

The correct version is GST + recurring GST voucher / U-save can potentially be better for lower income earners. Whether it is net beneficial to you depends on the relative amounts between GST and voucher / U-save eligibility as well as your own regular spending pattern.

Important thing is to do you own calculations and not just rely on PAP propaganda that it's good or dismiss it as definitely bad just because you distrust PAP.

Singapore leaders proven once B4 when GST 3% was first implemented on 1 April 1994.

"GST is good for lower income earners"

And today, they will be able to prove again that next GST hike will be better for lower income earners.

Just be patient

Since 1 April 1994, no one questioned SG leaders about GST hike.

All commoners accepted GST over past 17 years, without any question.
