This I definitely agree. Even with close my eyes and listen, I also can tell he sinkee. I think those who cannot tell and claimed he China national, must be other nationals pretending to be Sinkee in this forum. ... Laughing

Just a dickson with pink IC lah. Sad

There was a time when the country asked ordinary men to do extraordinary things.

But now, they'll only do it for money.

When jokers complain that Chew does not speak English like a Singaporean, what they really mean is he doesn't speak Singlish or at least English with occasional traces of Singlish.

Contrary to what many Singaporeans think, a lot of locals from proper English educated families (generally tend to be the HNW or at least affluent SES) as well as those who made it to senior leadership positions in both the private and public sector do not speak Singlish. Actual accents will vary depending on their education, social and work circumstances, but for many any semblance of Singlish or Singapore accent is quite undetectable.

This isn't a put down on ordinary Singaporeans (I am personally neutral on the topic of Singlish), but factually speaking most normal SES locals do not have much opportunities to mix around with their high SES counterparts and this has led to a misconception that every Singaporean born and bred here speaks Singlish or at least has a strong "Singapore accent".

I'm ok with Singlish as well Big Grin

But I realized during my earlier days at work that speaking in Singlish (especially if you are dealing with senior foreign stakeholders in MNCs) is a bad idea and damages my credibility unnecessarily, so I developed an ability to switch modes seamlessly depending on the target audience.

Now that I'm no longer in corporate life, it's back to almost 100% Singlish for me again!

But no records of his primary and secondary schools. Maybe his parents are from China?
Who cares? He went to OCS and is now a citizen. Considered a sinkie liao.

Why u depend on Wikipedia when he already introduced himself as True Blue SGrean ( as his parents were) and told the Americans he had served NS during his intro at the start of the 5-hours long hearing session ?

Way before he even speak, I already checked wikipedia so why say I depend on it? What he said afterwards simply confirmed what wiki said.
