He must pledge to donate 38 Oxley Rd to CHARITY or the STATE

To honor the wish of his father LKY
When the children of LKY can never be seen as beneficiaries of a legacy gcb at 38 Oxley Rd
There is no need to preserve the gcb, it serve not purpose
Get it?

Errrr.. LHY did not plan to sell the property - His intention is to DEMOLISH the House and rebuild a new one without any plan to allow it for public nor government use.

It is clear PAP Gov will not take kindly nor will allow him to remaiin sole owner of the property.

Question is how will the Gov do that without being seen as another State vs individual rights to his land ownership.

DEMOLISH mean DEMOLISH!

Showing no interest, LHL sold all his share (given by his father) to his younger bro LHY.

Then W/O any share or ownership, proposed not to demolish the property.

No logic.

Can anyone name an advanced country where the fate of its late prime minister private estate being decided by parliament and not the beneficiary?

Unless LKYs house was given by the Govt

.
If today, LHL still owns 33.3% share of the property, do you think he will agree to demolish or not to demolish?

No wonder US President Biden classified Singapore under authoritarian regime together with N Korea.

Even such a nitty gritty stuff cannot be resolved..

Most important key point is to respect LKY last wish or WILL to hv it demolished. It deemed unfilial or no respect for not carrying out his last wish.

Base on old wisdom, never have 3 children if you are in a rich family. Either having 2 or 4 children, the asset can be distributed evenly. If 3 children, there will be a 1% asset left over, the 1% asset may mean 20 million in Ultra rich family. This will start the fight lah.

Remember the late Dr Lee Wei Ling's famous last words, "Papa would've cringed at hero worship?"

We've learned there's a clause in LKY's will in which it states that his Oxley house can be preserved and visited only by his family members and descendants in the event of any "changes in the law, rules or regulations." It's a flexible will, so to speak; so nothing is etched in stone.

We know our founding PM wanted his house demolished - his wishes were written to the Cabinet in 2010 and 2011. But then he must have profoundly felt the strong disagreement between his elder son LHL and LHY and LWL over the fate of this house - hence, the flexibility of his last will was couched in simple terms before his passing. This 'flexibility,' unfortunately, has created a deeply divided family, leaving his children to fight it out.

No two ways about it - his lifelong abode has to be either demolished or be preserved into a fitting memorial to him and open only to his progeny. No one knows how the issue will be resolved and what the outcome will be. What is certain, however, is that someone has to relent in the end. To go under the bulldozer or to be saved from the wrecking ball is a matter of personal preference. Even among outsiders, opinions vary. Considering the options for 38 Oxley Road can be a real headache for the ministerial committee.

Owner must still ask the Gov, which includes his bro, permission to demolish the very old and rundown house.
