The reason is how much i buy be it alot or very little will distract discussion of when is best time to buy and at what price. Once I put down how much I buy people will engage in unproductive useless talk about how much money I have what is my net worth if too small they will insult me if amount is too big they will say they don't believe and keep asking for proof.

How much to buy whether $5000 or $500k depends on each individual's bet worth and is different for everyone.

Not asking in detail but look so many shares you have bought, at least 200k...I think you are no longer poor anymore, in fact you are richer than many of us here...well done! Clapping

High risk investment. Those who bought high saw it drop from $300+ to $150

Once it dropped below $160, the stock is good from a value investment standpoint. The risk of course is regulatory as the China govt might do something that destroys the value of Alibaba...many believe there is more bad news to come hence avoid China tech stocks.

I bought BABA based on valuation ...

One mistake I made was I did not fully appreciate the political risk.

Looking back should have used the sell down to purchase "politically safer" stocks like Lenovo which is also at an attractive valuation.

reason Lenovo is down is because it went up when everything else was going down. But the valuation is very attractive if I have not invested so much in China tech I would not hesitate to buy now.

As the wheel of uncertainty rotates ...Lenovo which rose sharply crashed because it pulled out of a listing in STAR. For unknown reason....investors are very disappointed.

I took the chance to BUY. ....I thought I had missed the once chance to buy Lenovo but I was thrown another pitch   I took it.

I was tad too impulsive to jump in and buy. The selling pressure might continue to tomorrow as recent surge up means lots of short term investors need to exit.

Optimisation aside...price is good to hold for long term

The small amount from the listing won't move the needle on the finances of lenovo....

But this listing was played by speculators for all it was worth...that was why I avoided buying the stock as it rose.

The reason for not going through with application is unknown but why the stock fell so much is actually known. Many short term traders and margin players cheong the stock in last 2 weeks and they need to get out fast or face a wipe out.

Using the massive fall,  I bought the stock for my own portforlio. If I am not wrong the stock will just recover to $8 )level in next few days.

The value metric indicate good sustainable yields for yrs ahead.

Jialat lah, his daughter step on the toes of AhXi….

Quote: Liu, who turned 77 in April, is the father of Jean Liu Qing, one of the founders of China’s dominant ride-hailing company Didi-Chuxing.
Didi, with 90 per cent share of China’s ride-hailing market, forced its way to a US$4.4 billion IPO in New York in late June against the injunctions of Chinese regulatory officials, an act that has been characterised as “a deliberate act of deceit.” The younger Liu has no involvement or any connection to Lenovo’s operations. Spokespeople at Lenovo and CICC didn’t reply to requests for comments by South China Morning Post.

What did u use to measure the selling not done?

It uses aggregate volume of the run up minus average daily volume of prior periods multiplied by a derive factor to estimate amount of short term holdings.

I only bought Lenovo because of the price plunge today.
I had wanted to buy lenovo earlier but I saw opportunity in Alibaba by the time I was done buying Alibaba, Lenovo had gone up 20+% due to its forecasted listing on STAR exchange which thought was really no big deal at all.

Today's plunge took it back to levels I wanted to buy and hold for next few years. Its is great company with great products ...Its branding also means good margins for coming years. Market has settled on a few winners for Windows hardware PC/Laptop Acer, HP,  Lenovo, Toshiba, Dell, Asus, Samsung/LG that's about it...only one Chinese champion.

Earnings will be stable and entry at a low price gives you a decent returns ...

No you have to calculate in real time ....when I bought it was too early ....when you count how much to bottom ...its about right.

Stock will now start rising to $8.

The stock will be volatile in the near term
It should be able to go to $8....that should be no problem
