War analysis, Russia Nuclear arms, Putin fail the 4th times. September 30, 2024

Years back, Russia began development of several new strategic weapons, as Putin had called them, to modernize Russia military & give it an edge against so-called West conflict that was in full swing. Among them was RS-28 Sarmat ICBM, known as Satan II. Following the full-scale war, missile was officially operational??, according to Russian state officials Rotfl .

In late Sept an explosion crater, roughly 60 meters wide @Yubileynaya silo launch site at Russian cosmodrome Plesetsk in town of Mirny, showed statements were most exaggeration.
Although Kremlin denied it conducted ICBM test launches, satellite imagery of launch site showed explosion was linked to Sarmat missile confirmed this would be fourth failed Sarmat launch.

What Iran is saying: Iran said its missile barrage was a response to the killing of Hezbollah’s leader and his top commanders. It also mentioned Ismail Haniyeh, a top leader in Hamas who was assassinated in Tehran in a suspected Israeli attack in July.

What Israel is saying: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed late Tuesday to retaliate against Iran, which he said “made a big mistake tonight and it will pay for it.”

Biden’s latest remarks: U.S. president said in an exchange with reporters, he would not support an Israeli strike on Iranian nuclear sites as retaliation, while also reiterating the US’ “full solidarity and support to Israel and its people.”

What is range of 2S22 Bohdana?
42 km - It has an armoured cabin and storage for 20 shells. Howitzer has a minimum range of 780 meters, and a maximum range of 42 km, or 50 km with a rocket-assisted projectile. It is capable of firing M982 Excalibur shells and it can fire 5 rounds per minute.

  1. Ukraine's artillery capabilities have received a welcome boost with news of 18 domestically-made Bohdana howitzers financed by Denmark have been handed over to Ukrainian military. The purchase of artillery units, a part of a Danish-Ukrainian agreement donates arms to Kyiv via direct purchases from Ukrainian defense industry. Such an agreement is needed as Kyiv's defense budget does not match capacities of its domestic weapons production. Bohdana or the 2S22 Bohdana full title – is a self-propelled howitzer, essentially an artillery gun on a truck chassis with a 42-km firing range. These guns give armed forces a "shoot & scoot" ability, a advantage over towed artillery pieces.

From the moment a towed artillery piece is fired, it is vulnerable to detection by enemy, moving it can be a time-consuming process that requires a suitable vehicle. A self-propelled howitzer can drive into position, fire off multiple rounds in under a minute, and out of range of counterfire before enemy has had time to organize.

Sweden's Archer & France Caesar are considered two of the best in the world, both currently in action in Ukraine, is limited numbers. Bohdana is Ukraine's take on Caesar & Archer is intentionally designed to emulate them with the hope. Kyiv's domestic weapons ramps up significantly, they will play a critical role on the battlefield. "From point of view of hardware – actual artillery part – it fully corresponds to modern Western howitzers with a 155/52 barrel," Andrii Kharuk, a weapons expert, told Kyiv Independent in April.

A shaky to 3-yrs design, development & Bohdana made its first public appearance in 2018 when a prototype took part in Kyiv Independence Day Parade on Aug. 24. The
"crucial features are high mobility, precision, range capability, as rapid firing speed," Oleksandr Turchynov, then-chairman Ukraine's National Security & Defense Council, said. It was a rare site – only one had been manufactured, it nearly 5-yrs till a 2nd from the outside of factory. A test firings further development were undertaken in the years following right up until Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022 – an event that nearly led to the destruction of the only Bohdana in existence at that time.

Kursk operation 'motivates those who give us weapons' — Zelensky visits troops in Sumy Oblast

President Zelensky began a visit to Sumy Oblast on Oct. 4 with a meeting with soldiers of the 82nd Air Assault Brigade fighting in Russia's Kursk Oblast. Russia has intensified strikes against Sumy Oblast, a northeastern region lying at Ukraine's border with Russia, since Kyiv launched a cross-border incursion into neighboring Kursk Oblast. Ukraine started its offensive into Kursk Oblast on Aug. 6, claiming to have seized around 100 settlements since then. He visit met with HQ Supreme Commander-in-Chief to discuss. The president listened to reports from Ukrainian military commanders, including Air Force & the Operational Command East

"There are solutions to support the region, and there will be separate meetings on the energy sector in Sumy Oblast and our other border regions. Before winter, the most important thing is to have a safety margin," Zelensky said.

Sept was 2nd-deadliest mth for Russian forces fighting in Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion, figures released by Kyiv daily reports from Ukraine's Armed Forces show 38,130 Russian soldiers were reported killed or wounded, though the overall consensus is that it includes dead, wounded, missing, and captured.
This figure is only surpassed by May 2024, when Ukraine reported 38,940 Russian casualties.

According to an analysis of the Ukrainian figures by analyst Ragnar Gudmundsson, four of the top ten bloodiest days for Moscow's forces since the launch of the full-scale invasion all occurred last month – Sept. 22, with 1,500 casualties, Sept. 28, with 1,470, Sept. 21, with 1,440, and Sept. 24, with 1,400. The data doesn't indicate where the losses occurred, but Russia has continued to make grinding advances in eastern Ukraine, most recently capturing the town of Vuhledar, Donetsk Oblast. Ukraine has published daily estimates of the number of killed and wounded Russian soldiers since the early days of the launch of the full-scale invasion. As Russian losses in Ukraine surge, some military bloggers turn on Kremlin, military command.

Particle collider @CERN, a rarely-seen event is bringing us tantalizingly close to the brink of new physics... Clapping

From years of running what is known as the NA62 experiment, particle physicist Cristina Lazzeroni of the University of Birmingham in the UK and her colleagues have now established, experimentally observed, and measured the decay of a charged kaon particle into a charged pion and a neutrino-antineutrino pair. The researchers have presented their findings at a CERN seminar.

Kaons don't have a long lifespan; they form, and decay, in a hundred millionth of a second. So, in that secondary beam, kaon decay is happening constantly, generally turning into a super heavy cousin of the electron called a muon, and a neutrino.

In around 13 out of every 100 billion kaon decays, however, the result is an antineutrino, a neutrino, and an unstable particle made of another flavor of quark and an antiquark called a pion.

"Kaons and pions are particles containing quarks. The fact that quarks are of different types (up, down, strange, charm, beauty, top) is called flavor," Lazzerino told ScienceAlert.

A checkpoint with Ukrainian military personnel on the territory in Sudzha, Russia on Aug. 16, 2024. (

Ever since Ukraine launched a lightning incursion deep into Russia territory in early August, Yan, a local resident in the city of Kursk, has been volunteering at a local drop-off point, helping to distribute clothes and bedding.

"The number of people arriving at the humanitarian aid points every week is increasing," Yan, his full name withheld so as to speak freely, told Kyiv Independent. "Now, cold weather setting in, need for warm clothes insulated bedding has become very urgent, food parcels hygiene products remain important," For 2-mths Ukrainian troops have been in control of dozens settlements in Russia’s border region, as refugees continuing to pour into Kursk Oblast’s provincial capital as fierce fighting in the west of the region continues.

Kursk offensive us use by Ukraine increasingly strikes Moscow's military assets deeper inside Russia, demonstrated Kyiv's ability to bring about a new phase of war in the 2-year of Russia’s brutal all-out invasion. Some analysts warn these audacious tactics presenting a thorn in Kremlin's, only fuel war support in the regions affected.
