U.K. is pushing for the West to supply fighter jets from eastern European allies so as Ukraine can have a chance to fight back.

British Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said, this would allow Ukraine to receive more MiG 29 & Su-24 fighters to defend against Russian Putin aggression, speaking on Sky News, he stressed U.K.  No to, not sending its Typhoon jets “in the short-term”.

Britania is willing to send combat aircraft to Ukraine from central and eastern europe if those soviet-made Mig-23 & Su-24 fighters.

It isn’t and 14 Challenger 2 tanks on their own are not going to win a war, but it’s the shift in direction that’s important.

France, “light tanks” – French AMX-10 RC, while Germany is sending 40 German Marder, and US is sending 60 Bradley fighting vehicles.

Just for a start... Big Grin

Germany in particular is also sending tanks,

To Bust Putin Soldiers.... Tongue Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov writred to the 27 counterparts member states to provide Kyiv with more 250,000 artillery shells a month in not easing a critical shortage that limits the country's progress on the battlefield, the Kyiv Independent reported.

His country’s forces are "only firing a fifth of the rounds because of a lack of supplies. The request far exceeds the help the EU is discussing sending.

Reznikov writes. Artillery plays “crucial role in eliminating enemy’s military power.” On average, Ukraine was firing 110,000 155mm-calibre shells a month

The Russian military has continued to respond, but to the heavy armored vehicle losses by deploying old 60-year-old T-62 to replaced those main battle tanks.

According to UK Ministry of Defense said in its latest intelligence update published.there is a realistic possibility that even units of the Putin 1st Guards Tank Army (1 GTA), supposedly Russia's premier tank force, will be re-equipped with T-62s to make up for previous losses. These units had previously been due to receive next-generation T-14 Armata MBT from 2021.

British intelligence said that in recent days, Russian BTR-50 armored personnel carriers, first fielded in 1954, had also been identified deployed in Ukraine for the first time.

According to the ministry, since summer 2022, approximately 800 T-62s have been taken from storage and some have received upgraded sighting systems which will highly likely improve their effectiveness at night.

Both these vintage vehicle types will present many vulnerabilities on modern battlefield, including the absence of modern explosive reactive armor, report said. Thinking

How could Ukraine win when they keep defending?

Ukrainian forces cling to Bakhmut under severe Russian pressure

6 Mar 2023
Ukrainian military leaders are determined to hold onto Bakhmut, Kyiv officials said on Monday, even as Russian forces continued to encroach on the devastated eastern Ukrainian city that they have sought to capture for months at the cost of thousands of lives.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s office said he chaired a meeting with military officials during which the country’s top brass advocated strengthening Ukrainian positions there.

In recent days, Ukrainian units destroyed two key bridges just outside Bakhmut, including one linking it to the nearby hilltop town of Chasiv Yar along the last remaining Ukrainian resupply route, according to UK military intelligence officials and other Western analysts.
Demolishing the bridges could be part of efforts to slow down the Russian offensive if Ukrainian forces start pulling back from the city.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said Monday he ordered the reinforcement of positions inside the city of Bakhmut, explaining that there was no part of Ukraine that could be abandoned.
The president said he took the decision after consulting with the military leadership.
“I told the chief of staff to find the appropriate forces to help the guys in Bakhmut. There is no such part of Ukraine that can be abandoned,” Zelensky said. “There is no Ukrainian trench in which the resilience and heroism of our soldiers would not be valuable.”
Zelensky also seemed to address rumors of a Ukrainian withdrawal from the eastern city, referring to those as “disinformation messages,” coming from those who didn’t have access to the confidential decision-making briefings where such a decision would have to be taken.
Zelensky said that Ukraine would defend every inch of its country.
“We are defending and will continue to defend every part of Ukraine,” he said. “When the time comes, we will liberate every city and village in our country. And we will make the occupier answer for every shot against Ukraine, for every vile act against Ukrainians.”

Commercial technology has in Ukrainian forces to equip themselves with capabilities that dramatically improve command and control, communications and overall situational awareness. Command and control in a military context refers to battlefield commanders being able to efficiently direct the forces and systems under their command. Situational awareness in a military context refers to knowing battlefield conditions, including the positions and status of friendly and enemy.

Ukrainians cobble together three tiers of tech success has come by figuring out how to integrate these three tiers of weapons and technology into a cohesive battlefield strategy. They use Starlink to ensure connectivity between commanders, personnel who identify targets and front-line units who attack those targets.

Drones based on commercial quadcopters that have been retrofitted for military use and mid-tier drones provide critical targeting and surveillance data in real time. This connectivity and airborne intelligence allows mobile units to use their limited supplies of precision high-end munitions to greatest effect.

The speed with which Ukraine has taken this hodgepodge of technology and capabilities and mastered their integration and use is remarkable. It provides a stark contrast to Russia’s use of technology.

Russians mismanage their tech
In February 2022, Russia appeared to be technologically superior to Ukraine on the battlefield. The Russian military continually failed to capitalize on this advantage because of poor command and control.

A Pentagon memo details steps to boost production of specialized air defenses, long-range missiles, and rockets whose stocks have dwindled as they are used in Ukraine—amid other behind-the-scenes steps being taken by defense officials, policymakers, and companies to ensure the U.S. military is adequately armed if the country gets directly involved in a conflict.

Pentagon officials have created a “targeted list for multi-year procurement [that] includes munitions that support Ukraine, our own needs, and other conflict scenarios,” Bill LaPlante, defense undersecretary for acquisition and sustainment, wrote in a January memo to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.

LaPlante’s office is conducting “munitions industrial base deep dives focused on accelerating integrated air defense systems capabilities and expanding the long-range fires industrial base,” it said,
