Scripture readings for Christmas

(10 hours ago)Ali Imran Wrote:  There is not a single verse where Jesus explicitly says he is equal to the Father. As a matter of fact, Jesus explicitly says the Father is greater than him.

The Father explicitly says He alone is God and there is no other besides Him.

Let me just take from John alone

1. **John 10:30**
*"I and the Father are one."*
(This verse explicitly states Jesus’ unity and equality with the Father.)

2. **John 5:18**
*"For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God."*
(This verse shows that Jesus’ claim to be the Son of God was understood as a claim to equality with God.)

3. **John 8:58**
*"Very truly I tell you," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!"*
(Here, Jesus uses the divine name "I am," affirming His eternal existence and divine nature.)

4. **John 14:9**
*"Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father."*
(This indicates His divine nature and His unity with the Father.)

You call yourself a Christian but you don't actually follow the teachings of Jesus. I have demonstrated that many times already.

Broadly speaking, believing in Jesus Christ and the Father he worshiped is a central tenet of Christianity, and therefore, someone who holds those beliefs would be considered a Christian.

Alhamdulilah!

The disciples will also be one with Jesus and the Father.

Are they all equal to the Father too?

The disciples' unity is a unity of faith, love, and purpose with God, not a shared divine nature...

So you want to take the assertion of the Pharisees to support your claim that Jesus was claiming equality with God?

Will you take the other assertion of the Pharisees about Jesus as truth? Like when they said Jesus was insane?

Did Jesus specify that?

Which verses are you referring?  There are still plenty of verses where Jesus claim equality with God....are you going to destroy everyone of them? Big Grin

So you believe God's name is I AM, and therefore Jesus was saying, "Before Abraham was born, God"? Does that statement makes sense to you?

Yes, every one that you bring to the table can mean something else. It is called "ambiguity".

But when Jesus said, "The Father is greater than I", that is explicit.

This is common sense ...Jesus is sinless
The disciples are not without sins..so how can we compare them to the divine nature of the triune god

Do you believe the Father looks like Jesus, with long hair, a beard, like that?

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

There is limitations that Jesus in the flesh can do... obviously the Father who is spiritual is greater than Him

So no, Jesus didn't say what you said about the disciples being one with him and the Father. Using your common sense is not good enough.

You don't know the Bible well...it's important to read everything in context and avoid picking and choosing. You're almost there....full-fledged Christianity awaits you.
